Joanna?

Nicknamed [name_u]Jo[/name_u]. Thoughts?

Unexpected and slightly refreshing on a modern child. I like the 80s throwback vibe. I don’t know how to describe it, but this name always felt very ā€œeasy breezyā€ to me (that’s a good thing, lol).

I love [name_f]Joanna[/name_f], it feels classic but modern to me.

I know of one young [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] (named after her grandmother Joanne) that is less than 10 years old. [name_u]Ever[/name_u] since hearing of her name/birth, I’m been digging on that name. I personally could never use it due to other family member names, but I do love it!

I also agree with pp that it would be an unexpected choice for a young child these days! I’ve had the spelling [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] on my list for a while because of [name_u]Sweeney[/name_u] [name_m]Todd[/name_m] :joy:

I really like it

A strong and solid name that you don’t hear too often

I like [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] a lot! It’s unexpected and gives me really wholesome imagery, like crisp red apples and [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] braids. [name_u]Jo[/name_u] is a great nickname too.

I love the name [name_f]Joanna[/name_f], it’s fresh and fun and with the nickname [name_u]Jo[/name_u] it makes me think of [name_u]Jo[/name_u] Harvelle from Supernatural, she was spunky and wore the name well.

We considered it for our daughter, and while there are many things I liked about it, I had a hard time convincing myself it sounded fresh on a little girl and not dated! I like the look and sound of the name, the biblical association, and the nicknames. But since it had it’s peak popularity in the 1980s (probably due to the [name_m]Kool[/name_m] & the Gang song), I worried it would sound too tied to that era and we decided not to use it - at least for this baby.

Not for me - I prefer other [name_u]Jo[/name_u] names (eg Josephine) and other [name_f]Anna[/name_f] smooshes (eg Roseanna). But I can see it fitting in now and nkt being immediately or only tied to 1989s.

I like it ! I feel like -Anna names are coming back ! Like [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] , [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] , [name_f]Marianna[/name_f] etc so I am Here for it !

I love [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] nn [name_u]Jo[/name_u]! One of the people I look up to most in my like is a [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] nn [name_u]Jo[/name_u]. Her name, thanks to herself, feels intelligent and warm, capable and loving. Very versatile choice!

I knew a [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] who’d be about 20 now! She wore it well and did not use any nickname. However, [name_u]Jo[/name_u] is a lovely nickname! It’s a refreshing name that could also honour a [name_u]Joan[/name_u] or Joann(e).

[name_f]My[/name_f] best friend’s name, so I’m biased. I love it. She goes by the nn ā€˜Jo’. It has never sounded old-fashioned to me.
