Jocelyn

I’ve always loved the name ever since I listened to [name]Joss[/name] [name]Stone[/name]'s music, and more recently with [name]Josslyn[/name], the daughter of [name]Carly[/name] and [name]Jasper[/name] on [name]General[/name] Hospital. I like the idea of [name]Jocelyn[/name] nn [name]Joss[/name],but my friend [name]Claire[/name] recently had a daughter named [name]Jocelyn[/name] and calls her [name]Josie[/name], which is adorable with big sister [name]Audrey[/name].

What do you think of the name? Too trendy with the lyn ending? I don’t know if it fits stylistically with my other names, but I’m not opposed to using it. Also,do you think of the word jostling when you hear the name [name]Jocelyn[/name]? Some people have told me that they dislike the name because it sounds too much like jostling.

I’m curious to see what all of you think. Thank you!

[name]Jocelyn[/name] is one of my favourite “lyn” names. While “lyn” names are all the rage at the moment, I don’t include names like [name]Evelyn[/name] and [name]Jocelyn[/name] in this group. [name]Jocelyn[/name] has a lot of history to back it up (it’s been around since the [name]Norman[/name] times). First it was a boys name, then a surname and now it’s a girls name (talk about versatile). I think it’s pretty but strong and always sounds fresh and youthful to me. It was No# 70 most popular girls name in the US last year so I’m in good company!

I also thought the same about [name]Evelyn[/name] and [name]Jocelyn[/name] but I wasn’t sure if a lot of people felt that way. [name]Even[/name] though it is a lyn name, I don’t think [name]Jocelyn[/name] will end up feeling dated and overdone.

Thank you, @mischa!
