Is [name_m]Joe[/name_m] too much of a stretch of a nn for [name_u]George[/name_u]? There isnt a good nn for George I like and Joe sounds like a short version. Does it work? WDYT? Thanks!
It seems like quite the stretch. I’m not exactly sure where you’re getting [name_m]Joe[/name_m]. But I think it could work. Especially if the combo was [name_u]George[/name_u] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], which would be cute!
I can totally see [name_m]Joe[/name_m] working for [name_u]George[/name_u]. I have seen [name_u]George[/name_u] spelled [name_m]Jorge[/name_m] so I think it works just fine!
I don’t get it personally. [name_m]Geo[/name_m] might be a cool nickname for [name_u]George[/name_u], or [name_u]Jonah[/name_u], [name_m]Josiah[/name_m], [name_m]Jonas[/name_m], [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m], etc could be a full name for [name_m]Joe[/name_m].
Personally, I don’t see it, honestly, I prefer [name_u]George[/name_u] on its own without a nickname, its elegant and handsome.
Mmm no, sorry. [name_u]Georgie[/name_u]?
I’m sorry I don’t see it, no.
I don’t think so sorry
I agree that [name_m]Joe[/name_m] would seem like a nn for [name_m]Joseph[/name_m].
But…I do know a little [name_u]Jordyn[/name_u] and [name_m]Jon[/name_m] who both sometimes go by [name_u]Jojo[/name_u]. So, I think if you went with [name_m]Jorge[/name_m], [name_m]Joe[/name_m]/ [name_u]Jojo[/name_u] could work.
Strictly based on it coming instinctively from [name_u]George[/name_u] in writing, i would say no.
However… nicknames are weird! I can’t see a straight line from [name_u]George[/name_u] to [name_m]Joe[/name_m], but i can see the natural progression from [name_u]George[/name_u] > [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] > [name_m]Gee[/name_m] > [name_m]Geo[/name_m] > [name_m]Joe[/name_m].
So in my eyes it’s kind of a stretch, but ultimately if it fits the child and it sticks, it works!
Joe, because the first syllable in [name_u]George[/name_u] says /jor/ which, although spelled slightly different, has a similar sound.
I don’t think one syllable names need nicknames, that’s my opinion!
My great grandfather was [name_u]George[/name_u] but went by [name_m]Jack[/name_m] (I don’t know why), so I don’t think it’s totally out there. I will admit that my assumption would be that [name_m]Joe[/name_m] was either [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] or [name_m]Josiah[/name_m]
Joe is a bit of a stretch for me
I think it absolutely works. While I would also assume that [name_m]Joe[/name_m] is a shortened form of [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], a simple correction fixes that. It’s not ridiculously out there. The first sound in the name, after all, is [name_u]Jo[/name_u](rge).
For what it’s worth, [name_m]Geo[/name_m] is also a fab option.
No. [name_m]Joe[/name_m] is a short form for [name_m]Joseph[/name_m].
It is a big stretch. But [name_m]Geo[/name_m] could work
