Johanna ???

[name]Hi[/name]–

I would love some feedback. . . I am due in 2 months with a little baby girl. . . I want to name my daughter after my grandmother. . . so we are going to name her [name]Johanna[/name] (pronounced the [name]German[/name] way- [name]Yo[/name]-han-na). Years ago when I planned on using this name, I always envisioned naming her [name]Johanna[/name] [name]Mae[/name]. [name]Mae[/name] is my mother’s middle name, however as my due date approaches, I am not sure I want to name my baby after my mother. However, I really like how the name sounds and would like to find a middle name that sounds as good that I like. . . Does anyone have any suggestions?

I like [name]Grace[/name], but unfortunately, my niece already has that as a middle name and I also like [name]Joy[/name], but again, it is my mother-in-law’s name and not someone I want to name my daughter after.

Thank you for your help,
[name]Tonya[/name]

I love [name]Johanna[/name]! What a beautiful choice. I like the idea of [name]Johanna[/name] [name]Liv[/name] or [name]Johanna[/name] [name]Lily[/name], or maybe [name]Johanna[/name] [name]Lucy[/name]? I think these would be nice, as well:

[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Niamh[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Tess[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Fleur[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Eve[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Zoe[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Daisy[/name]

Good luck!

I love [name]Johanna[/name]! It is one of my favorite names of all time.

You seem to be leaning toward one syllable names. What do you think of [name]Maeve[/name]? It’s still one syllable and it has a similar feel to [name]Mae[/name], but with a little added spark at the end. It may be too close to [name]Mae[/name] for you, though.

Some choices that might be good for you:
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Kate[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]

Other choices:
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Lily[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Liesl[/name]

[name]Johanna[/name] is such nice choice! I love the previous suggestions of [name]Johanna[/name] [name]Maeve[/name], [name]Johanna[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] and [name]Johanna[/name] [name]Eve[/name].

Depending on the flow of your last name, I think a longer middle name could sound nice as well.

[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Christine[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Emmeline[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Eloise[/name]

Other short middle name options could be

[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Gail[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Adele[/name]

I also like the suggestion of [name]Johanna[/name] [name]Pearl[/name].

I love the name [name]Johanna[/name], with the [name]German[/name] pronunciation. There’s nothing wrong with naming your daughter after your mom, I think it’s lovely. However here’s some other short and sweet middles that might go well…

[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Cara[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Elsa[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Esme[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Eve[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Fern[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Fleur[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Ivy[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Vera[/name]

Is there anyone else on your DH’s side that you’d want to honor?

I would probably avoid middle names that start with J (pronounced dʒ), so as not to confuse the pronunciation of [name]Johanna[/name] as [name]Yo[/name]-ha-nah.

[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Mercy[/name] since [name]Grace[/name] is taken?

That’s one of my favorites! It’s so sweet and soft!

[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Lily[/name] and [name]Johanna[/name] [name]Mercy[/name], both suggested above, are two of my favorite combos that are often on my list. Also [name]Johanna[/name] [name]Mary[/name]. I’m so excited to see [name]Johanna[/name] getting used and would be super excited to see one of those three middles.
