My favorite spelling at the mo is [name_f]Joanna[/name_f], especially because I prefer the jo-anna pronunciation of the name (rather than jo-hawna or jo-hannah, two other ways I’ve heard it pronounced).
I also like the nicknames [name_u]Jo[/name_u] and [name_u]Jojo[/name_u], or even Annie.
I pronounce [name_f]Joanna[/name_f], joh-an-ah. I pronounce [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] (prefer this spelling), joh-ha-nah. I like them pretty equally.
The only thing I’d recommend is that you shouldn’t add an h unless you plan to pronounce it. [name_f]IMO[/name_f], “[name_f]Joanna[/name_f]” is different from the other 3 names on the list. The first three are joe-[name_f]HANNAH[/name_f] and the last one is joe-[name_f]ANNA[/name_f]
[name_f]Johanna[/name_f] if that’s how you’re going to pronounce it. Name wise, I like [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] and [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] are tied for me.
[name_f]Joanna[/name_f] is the only one of those names that I’ve only heard one pronunciation of. All the others seem to have multiple pronunciations, which could be confusing. I know a [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] pronounced [name_u]Jo[/name_u]-HAR-na, another [name_u]Jo[/name_u]-AHN-na (like [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]), another pronounced [name_f]Yo[/name_f]-HANN-a. So I would say it depends whether it bothers you that the pronunciation could be confusing. If you want to keep it simple, I’d tend towards [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] but if this doesn’t bother you go with what you love
I like [name_f]Johanna[/name_f]. It’s a lovely name, not too popular, and has a European vibe to it.
I like [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] the best. I think it looks best written out and it gives you different options for how to pronounce it.
I like [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] the best! Definitely not dated at all! It reminds me of the high mountains, wild flowers, and sunshine Probably because of [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] Spyri (author of the book [name_f]Heidi[/name_f]).
[name_f]Johanna[/name_f] doesn’t look incomplete but doesn’t look overloaded. I prefer this spelling and although [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] is pretty well used, I think it looks more dated than the fresh [name_f]Johanna[/name_f].
[name_f]Johannah[/name_f], if that is how you want to pronounce it because it looks like [name_u]Jo[/name_u] and [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] the most. If you’re going to pronounce it another way then probably one of the other spellings.
Are you wanting joe-[name_f]ANNA[/name_f] or joe-[name_f]HANNAH[/name_f]? I prefer the former, in which case I vote for [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]. If it’s the latter pronunciation you want, I would use [name_f]Johanna[/name_f].
[name_f]Johannah[/name_f] is my favourite, if I’m honest!
[name_f]Joanna[/name_f] (jo-ann-uh) seems a little bit dated. Not my favorite.
I voted [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] (jo-hawn-uh) which I think is sophisticated and definitely would be a great choice for use now.
[name_f]Johana[/name_f] just looks like an incorrect spelling of [name_f]Johanna[/name_f].
[name_f]Johannah[/name_f] (jo-han-nuh) looks to me like [name_u]Jo[/name_u] and [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] smooshed together. Not a fan.
I [name_u]Love[/name_u] love this name. It’s on my list (at the top) of girls names. I love the nn [name_u]Josie[/name_u] for [name_f]Johanna[/name_f], as I’m not too keen on any of the other nn variants ([name_u]Jo[/name_u], [name_u]Jo[/name_u] [name_u]Jo[/name_u] etc) but I think [name_u]Josie[/name_u] is a cute nn, and one that ages well, so could be used as an adult too.
I prefer the spelling [name_f]Johanna[/name_f], but [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] is a close second! (For me though, in both pronunciations, the ‘h’ is silent, so the name I simply said [name_u]Jo[/name_u]-[name_f]Anna[/name_f]). Great choice!
