I know [name_m]Jack[/name_m] used to be a nickname for [name_m]John[/name_m], however, it doesn’t seem parents do this anymore at least where I’m located. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you still consider [name_m]Jack[/name_m] a viable nickname for [name_m]John[/name_m]?
We’d like to use [name_m]Jack[/name_m], but it sounds rhymey with our last name (cute for a nickname, not for a birth certificate/resume), and [name_m]John[/name_m] is an honor name that kills a lot of birds with one stone.
Let me know if you think [name_m]Jack[/name_m] can still be a nickname for [name_m]John[/name_m]!
I think it can still work. I can see some confusion in the future, but you can’t please everyone. If it works for you, I say go for it!
And just for the record, [name_m]Jack[/name_m] could still honor [name_m]John[/name_m], if you chose to go with it as his given name.
For sure! [name_m]Jack[/name_m] has been a nickname for [name_m]John[/name_m] for a long time and I assume will remain being so for a very long time. I adore both [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_m]John[/name_m], they honor several loved ones.
Yes for sure!! My cousin (20 years old) is a [name_m]John[/name_m] nn [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. It’s a family tradition for first-born sons to be Johns, and each generation alternates between [name_m]John[/name_m]-called-Johns and [name_m]John[/name_m]-called-Jacks.
Absolutely! I really like [name_m]Jack[/name_m] as a nickname for [name_m]John[/name_m], but [name_m]Jack[/name_m] as an independent name never seems complete to me. Definitely would prefer [name_m]John[/name_m].
I definitely do! In fact, I’d be super excited to meet a little [name_m]John[/name_m] nn [name_m]Jack[/name_m]! My brother is [name_m]John[/name_m], nn [name_m]Johnny[/name_m], but for a month or so when he was about 6 he had a [name_m]Jack[/name_m] phase, and I honestly wish I’d stuck to it lol. [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is leagues better than [name_m]Johnny[/name_m], imo!
