I run hot and cold on this name; for some reason I worry it sounds a little too try hard or something maybe…? Maybe it’s because I’ve never met a Jonas (but I’ve met a few Jonahs and I absolutely love Jonah)
So anyways, talk to me about Jonas! Do you like it? How do you picture a Jonas? Middle name or sibling ideas?
I’m aware of the whole Jonas Bros connection but honestly could not care less since they don’t seem very relevant nowadays
Thanks!
Edit to add: do you think Jonas will automatically be shortened to Joe/Joey? I do not like this option. I much prefer Jones for short
I like [name_m]Jonas[/name_m]! I picture a [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] to be fun, calm and smart. Middle name ideas: [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] [name_m]Victor[/name_m], [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] [name_m]Peter[/name_m], [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m]. Sibling ideas: [name_m]Jonas[/name_m], [name_m]Sven[/name_m] and [name_f]Linnea[/name_f].

I love [name_m]Jonas[/name_m]! It’s an effortlessly cool name to me, more understated and timeless than [name_u]Jonah[/name_u] but with the same strong yet gentle charm. Kind of like [name_u]Miles[/name_u] vs [name_u]Milo[/name_u].
A [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] would be smart, hardworking, reliable, good looking but not really aware of it. I picture cable-knit sweaters, campfires and general hygge-ness with this name too.
I really like [name_m]Jonas[/name_m]! He feels warm and inviting, yet fresh and new at the same time. Plus, -s ending names feel very on trends right now (a la [name_m]Silas[/name_m], Elias) in a really good way.
[name_u]Jonah[/name_u] is very “& the whale” for me, so [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] is a great alternative.
[name_m]Jonas[/name_m] (pr. yoh-nas) is my twin brother’s name, so I’m biased It’s an extremely popular name where we born/grew up, and to me it will always have that subtle Scandinavian vibe. Because it’s so connected to my brother I mostly associate it with his characteristics: light hair, blue eyes, intelligent, kind, funny.
Because it was so popular where we grew up I met several people called [name_m]Jonas[/name_m], but it never felt boring to me.
I love [name_m]Jonas[/name_m]! It’s one of my favorite boys’ names. It has a lovely sound and seems very familiar thanks to the similarities with Jonah/Jones etc. but also unusal and unexpected. To me it has the perfect blend of feeling cool and modern and also traditional. I think that means it’s very open for sibling names, I could equally see a [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] with a sister called [name_u]Riley[/name_u] or [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
i don’t think he’d be automatically nicknamed joe/joey. i think the most obvious nns could be joni, johnny (or any other spelling) but jones works perfectly too
i would’ve never thought of the jonas brothers tbh hahah, my first association is the main character of the series dark
I really like [name_m]Jonas[/name_m]! I think it’s a fun take on some of the more common names that sound similar to it. I don’t think it would automatically be shortened to Joe/Joey. I didn’t even consider it as a nickname until I read that part of your post.
I love [name_m]Jonas[/name_m]! I’ve only met one so far, he was very smart, soft spoken, loved to hike and was overall just really kind.
[name_f]My[/name_f] main association to the name is it’s literary connection (The Giver) which isn’t a bad thing at all. Actually I think the book/movie is what made me fall for the name. I don’t think it’ll get shorted to Joe/Joey very often, but it might happen occasionally
I love [name_m]Jonas[/name_m]! Not trendy, common or too out there.
[name_f]My[/name_f] friend has a [name_m]Jonas[/name_m], he’s almost 5. He gets called Joney
[name_m]Jonas[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] [name_u]Wilder[/name_u] is so handsome! And I love that you suggested [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] as a sibling name because we already have an [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]!
[name_m]Jonas[/name_m] is a common [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] name, but I only know one teenager named [name_m]Jonas[/name_m]. It suits him, but I don’t like the American pronunciation of it
