I heard the name Joni (joan-ee) recently and I fell in love with it. I have never really liked the name Joan, i much prefer jean or jane.
The only issue is that I’m really a full name with a nickname kind of person, and Joni/Joanie really feels like a nickname to me. My question is, is there any full names for the nickname Joni? I’ve thought of maybe Johannah (jo-hannah) and Josephine but neither one really seems like Joni would be an intuitive nickname. I’m also not a fan of Joanna.
Does anyone know any names at all that Joni could possibly be short for, and if not do you know any names similar to Joni? Not Josie as i already have that one on my list. TIA!
[name_u]Joni[/name_u] is great! I think of similar names Jodi/Jodie/Jody, [name_f]Jovie[/name_f], and [name_f]Jolie[/name_f].
Maybe…
[name_f]Joanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Jolene[/name_f]
[name_f]Janelle[/name_f] / [name_f]Jonelle[/name_f]
[name_u]Jonah[/name_u] (I prefer it for a boy but I suppose it works for a girl?)
[name_f]Jonquil[/name_f]
[name_f]Joneva[/name_f]
I don’t mind Joni on its own. I think that while Joanie does feel very much like a nickname, for whatever reason Joni feels more like a stand-alone name (along the lines of Jodie).
I’ll add Jocelyn, Josiane & Jordana as suggestions, however, I feel like if you don’t like Joan, and think that Josephine and Johannah / Joanna aren’t intuitive enough to be full names for Joni, there likely won’t be any others that do feel any more intuitive.
Otherwise, a little further left field, but Joni sounds very similar to Journey, and Journey feels more like a full name…
Please take any repeats as seconds. I’ve stick with one spelling per suggestion, but there are multiple ways to spell all of these if any appeal to you sound-wise:
[name_f]Jonquil[/name_f]
[name_f]Jacqueline[/name_f]
[name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Joanita[/name_f]
[name_f]Jolene[/name_f]
[name_f]Jolana[/name_f]
[name_f]Jolina[/name_f]
[name_f]Jolien[/name_f]
[name_f]Josalind[/name_f]
[name_f]Josianne[/name_f] (appreciate you already have [name_u]Josie[/name_u] )
I weird because I think [name_u]Joni[/name_u] reads as a first name where [name_f]Joanie[/name_f] reads like a nickname for [name_u]Joan[/name_u].
I like both. I would encourage using [name_u]Joni[/name_u] on its own and like a bigger middle name.
I suppose names that wouldn’t be a stretch as longer names for [name_u]Joni[/name_u]:
[name_f]Jolene[/name_f]
[name_f]Jocelyne[/name_f]
[name_f]Johnna[/name_f]
[name_f]Norma[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]- heck of a stretch, but I bat wild
Names like [name_u]Joni[/name_u]-
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_u]Jean[/name_u]
[name_f]Janine[/name_f]
[name_f]Josette[/name_f]
[name_f]Josepha[/name_f]
[name_u]Jo[/name_u] [name_u]Marie[/name_u]
