Josephine but husband's name is Joseph

Hello berries!

[name_u]Baby[/name_u] Girl #2 is on the way and we are struggling for a name. First girl is [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. Here is our list, please comment/add names/suggestions!

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] (but husband’s name in [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]…to weird?)
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] ([name_f]Vivi[/name_f])
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f] ([name_f]Lucy[/name_f] or [name_f]Lulu[/name_f]?)
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] (I’m not sold on this, it’s a bit long and our last name is already 4 syl)

I like [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] I like [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] too but I’m not sure I could go with it with husbands name being so close.

[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] fits so well with [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], I love it! [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] is also great. I don’t think [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] being close to [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] is a big deal. If it’s your favourite, go for it! I think [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is super cute!

I think [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] would be best in the middle spot since [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] is your husband. It is a bit too close. [name_m]How[/name_m] about…
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]

I think [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] or [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] would work great (Or [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f], maybe?). I think [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] would be weird since your husband is [name_m]Joseph[/name_m].

I agree with a pp - put [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] in the mn spot. You honour your husband but don’t have to deal with the confusion of the names you call them being so similar.

I love [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] with [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] sounds great to me, on its own and with [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. I might spell it [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] just because to my [name_m]French[/name_m]-speaking brain it looks more feminine, but that’s minor and totally a personal preference.

I actually like the fact that your husband’s name is [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]. Why do baby boys get their father’s name but baby girls can’t? Besides, her nn would likely be [name_u]Josie[/name_u], which is probably quite different than his nn?

Save [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] for a possible boy?

I love [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], I know a little girl by that name and think it’s super sweet. But next to [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] it’s a bit short.

[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] is my #2 vote as it has the same 3-syll flow.

[name_f]Lucille[/name_f] is sweet, but in my mind a slightly different feel than [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] and [name_f]Adele[/name_f] are sisters. [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is a prettier name.

No it isn’t weird at all and flows well with her sisters name!

I think it is an [name_f]Honor[/name_f] to be named after her Father.

I like ~[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]~

[name_f]My[/name_f] dad is [name_m]Paul[/name_m] and my sister is [name_f]Paula[/name_f]. I always thought it ridiculous.

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] are a bit too close for my comfort. A middle place feels most right. [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is such a sweet name.

[name_f]May[/name_f] I suggest:

[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] + [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] + [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] + [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] + [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] + [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] + [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] + [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]

Names

[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is such a gorgeous name. Very feminine. Almost frilly, but very grounded and sweet.
I would go with [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] instead of [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]. [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] feels just a bit more masculine.

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] sounds like the best combination for me. [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] + [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] are both places in Australia. A sign that they are meant to be?

Wishing you all the best.

I don’t think it’s weird! [name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Carla[/name_f] and my daughter’s name is [name_f]Klara[/name_f]. Some people thought that’s too close but we loved the name and knew that our daughter is a [name_f]Klara[/name_f] … and that’s what matters!

I like [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] with [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], too!

You might also like [name_f]Violet[/name_f]?

It’s not weird at all! [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is beautiful name. [name_f]My[/name_f] and my mother’s names have difference in only one letter and it never felt ~ridiculous or something. Boys are named after their fathers all the time.

I don’t think it’s weird at all! [name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], my husband’s middle name is [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], and we’re always asked whether we’re going to use [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] or some variation for our child, as then it’d honour both of us!

For the record, we have thought about using either in a middle place, because it is a fantastic name!

I agree that [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is weird. I only like [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] as a middle name, though there is nothing wrong with it. [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] is very pretty, but I love [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] and [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]. [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] seems unique and elegant and I love the nn [name_f]Thea[/name_f]. [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] is just so beautiful.

People name their kids things that sound like their own names all the time. I really don’t think it would be a problem or be weird. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t be afraid to go with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f].

I don’t think it would be weird to use [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] but I don’t like it quite as much as the others so I agree with others that it may be best in the middle.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite from your list would be: [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]

Other thoughts:

[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] …love [name_u]Theo[/name_u] or [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] as nn options

[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] or [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Theona[/name_f]? It’s close to [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]. I like [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] and also [name_f]Viviana[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] a LOT, and I don’t think it would necessarily be weird to use it, but I do think it might be confusing when names are getting tossed around. Also, if you had only one daughter, I think it’d be sweet, but I would wonder if [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] would feel left out, or [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] would feel like she didn’t get her own name.

[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] isn’t my favorite name but I think it’s wonderful with [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]? [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]? [name_m]Even[/name_m] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. Very sweet. I love [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] and [name_f]Theodora[/name_f], but [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] might be a little long with your last name, and [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] might be a little short. [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] is a good middle ground.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] the name [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] but I wouldn’t do it because of your husband’s name. I don’t think it’s weird, just confusing. I remember going over to a friend’s house when I was a kid and the older brother was [name_u]Kyle[/name_u] and the father was [name_m]Karl[/name_m] - whenever someone yelled for one, the other would answer or when there was a phone call for one of them, my friend or her mum would have to double check who the person was actually looking for.

Having said that, as a middle name it would be really sweet. Any of your other name choices would sound great with your daughter’s name. It’s hard to decide which without knowing your last name but if you have a long last name, I think you could go with anything.
