Jr.?

What names would you be willing to use to name your baby after yourself in an indirect way (no Jrs or the 2nds) [name_f][/name_f]? For me I might use names I’ve been called that aren’t actually my name :joy:[name_f][/name_f] Everyone, meet [name_f]Molly[/name_f] & [name_f]Melanie[/name_f].

I’m in a bit of a complicated situation, because I don’t go by my legal name with most of my friends or my partner. Only my family and my childhood friends use it.

[name_f]My[/name_f] partner and I really like the name [name_m]Ilija[/name_m] for a future son (pronounced EE-lee-ah), and the name my family calls me is [name_f]Celia[/name_f][name_f][/name_f] It’s not intentionally naming my baby after myself, but the similarity is obvious! I don’t think it’d be a big deal, since I wouldn’t be called [name_f]Celia[/name_f] around the house, so I would be willing to use [name_m]Ilija[/name_m] anyway.

I would 100% use [name_f]Sasha[/name_f] or [name_f]Andie[/name_f]. Though mainly because I like them and their relation to my name is coincidental. But if I had to name a child after myself, that’s what I’d use.

[name_f]My[/name_f] daughter has my middle name, that’s about as far as I went. [name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Eryn[/name_f], you can’t really indirectly use it without using [name_f]Eryn[/name_f] I don’t think [name_f][/name_f] Although, I did have [name_f]Eden[/name_f] on my list, that’s kinda close!

Fun idea! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

[name_f][/name_f]

I would name my daughter Rhodora[name_f][/name_f] (as my father wanted to name me Rhododendron, no joke! :joy:)[name_f][/name_f], and a son would be [name_m]Zigmund[/name_m][name_f][/name_f], after my chosen name of [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]! :slightly_smiling_face:

our little one will have my middle name, rae, but i’ve always loved the idea of using ‘annie’ as a subtle honor for myself :yellow_heart:

I would use my middle name, [name_f]Helene[/name_f][name_f][/name_f] as a middle name or my Confirmation name, [name_f]Maria[/name_f] (or anything connected to [name_f]Maria[/name_f]- [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] are my favorites! I also love the idea of [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] (my favorite name) as a connection to [name_f]Helene[/name_f], although I know they’re not etymologically connected.

I would use a name ending in [name_f]Lia[/name_f]! Like [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], I’ve never thought about naming someone after myself so I never let myself get attached to those names (since my name is [name_f]Lia[/name_f]) but if I were to I would probably use one of those.

I’m thinking…

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Nell[/name_f] (variation of my middle)
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Anya[/name_f] (same meaning as my name)

I probably wouldn’t use a variation of my first name because I’m not a fan of any, but I’d love to use [name_f]Jane[/name_f] as a nod to my middle name, [name_f]Janet[/name_f], on a daughter!

[name_f][/name_f]

I mainly go by AJ, so I’ve also considered passing down the AJ initials.

I’ve got a rose- name myself, so probably any rose- name would work. For a girl I’d consider Rósmarý (Icelandic form of Rosemary) or maybe Júlírós, for a boy Rósar or maybe Rosaire.

The truth is that I am completely unable to imagine myself having a child, or wanting to name anything[name_f][/name_f] after myself… but I do really like [name_m]Wendell[/name_m] and [name_f]Wendeline[/name_f].

I went through a period of time when I wanted to name my future daughter [name_f]Kadence[/name_f] (variation of my name because my name is a variation of my mum’s). I’d also a name ending in -lyn like [name_f]Adalyn[/name_f], [name_f]Ashlyn[/name_f], [name_f]Jaslyn[/name_f] or [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f]

I’d probably go down the route of shared meaning, or incorporating my (maiden name) initials. Hard to get into specifics whilst keeping some level of privacy but I’ve considered [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] or [name_f]Selena[/name_f] as sort-of honours for myself.
