Boy, all the way! It took me awhile to think of how people could find it feminine and the only thing I can think of is the “ju-” beginning is reminiscent of [name_u]Julie[/name_u] and [name_f]Julia[/name_f]? Anyhow, I prefer it on a boy 10000000%. I did actually read a book a couple days ago in which the main character was a girl named [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and it honestly made it hard for me to finish the book. It was just too weird and I kept thinking the other characters were talking to some other guy in the book.
I love it on both, but i prefer it on girl, ever since i loved the idea of [name_f]Judith[/name_f] ‘[name_u]Jude[/name_u]’.
I voted boy, though I can see it on a girl too.
As a full name it’s all boy to me, but it could work as a nickname for [name_f]Judith[/name_f] or [name_f]Judy[/name_f] (which may be why some from the generation when those names were popular see [name_u]Jude[/name_u] as a bit feminine).
I personally could see [name_u]Jude[/name_u] on either one given the fact that I just read a book where the name of one of the characters was [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and her twin was [name_u]Noah[/name_u]. If you like the name, then use it! [name_u]Jude[/name_u] was actually on my short list, but then DH vetoed it.
[name_u]Jude[/name_u] is definitely a boys name to me.
I originally thought it was a girls’ name, because of a [name_f]Judy[/name_f], but I’m warming to it on a boy.
I’ve always considered it masculine, although I have seen it used for a girl a couple of times.
I do tend to swing towards boy, though I think [name_u]Jude[/name_u] is almost one of the truly unisex names. I certainly wouldn’t bat an eyelid at a little girl or a little boy called [name_u]Jude[/name_u].
