Judy or ? nn Judy

Hello

I’m having a little dilemma! We have decided our babies name will be [name]Judy[/name] if she is a girl. Now the decision, do we give her a longer name eg. [name]Judith[/name] and use [name]Judy[/name] as a nickname? Or do we just name her what we intend to call her?

Does anyone have any other ideas of what [name]Judy[/name] could be a nickname for apart from [name]Judith[/name]? We will be using [name]Evelyn[/name] (ehv-(eh)-lin) as middle name and surname is Ackers.

Thanks [name]Lillian[/name]

I think many people would consider [name]Judy[/name] old fashioned… and she is, but in a way that could become popular again. As a huge [name]Judy[/name] [name]Garland[/name] fan, I definitely approve. I would [name]LOVE[/name] to meet a little [name]Judy[/name]. I think you should just go with [name]Judy[/name], as [name]Judith[/name] is even more dated to me.

[name]Judy[/name] is great!

I think [name]Jude[/name] is a modern way to get there & [name]Jude[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] is a strong name. Personally I dislike the soft lispy-th ending of [name]Judith[/name], but that’s just me.

I think just [name]Judy[/name] isn’t a strong choice though. As much as I love it I find it childish on it’s own.

[name]Jude[/name] is a good idea, but sort of male sounding. What about Judea since its all coming from the same words anyway.

I disagree with previous posters. I think [name]Judith[/name] (nn [name]Judy[/name]) is so beautiful, perfect in combination with the middle you chose, and your last name. Nicknames as names are popular right now, but it’s a trend that will die if you ask me. Give her something substantial, along with fabulous [name]Judy[/name]!
I also love [name]Justine[/name], which I believe could be nicknamed [name]Judy[/name] without too much of a stretch.

I vote [name]Judith[/name] - I think [name]Jude[/name] is awful as a full name for a girl, way too trendy / masculine and why would you go for a one syllable name and then nickname her with two syllables? Doesn’t make sense.

I think [name]Judith[/name] is stylish and classy and gives her something that will age well and look great on an adult. [name]Judy[/name] is really sweet, I like it a lot, but I do think it’s best as a nickname.

I would absolutely go with [name]Judith[/name] as a full name. There’s something about the sound of the ‘th’ at the end that I find attractive, and I think it’s one of those classic names that due for a revival sometime soon. Plus, [name]Judith[/name] has a great history - not only is it biblical, but it was also used by medieval royalty. [name]Even[/name] if your daughter rarely goes by [name]Judith[/name], I think it would be nice for her to have it as an option later in life.

Thankyou everyone. I think we’re going to go with [name]Judith[/name] and call her [name]Judy[/name]. I suppose that will give her the choice when she’s older. Thanks for all the input.

I think your decision to go with [name]Judith[/name] is the right one! That way she can have 2 beautiful names ([name]Judy[/name] and [name]Judith[/name]) and decide which one she wants to use. [name]Judith[/name] nn [name]Judy[/name] is a [name]LOVELY[/name] choice!
