Juliet vs Isabelle

Popularity aside, which is your favourite out of these two names and why? :grinning:

I much prefer [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f].

Iā€™ve never been a fan of [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], she sounds harsh and dated to my ears (which Iā€™m aware is quite a rare opinion on Nameberry!).

[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] ([name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is nice but not my style as much).

I like [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. It has a nice flow and is just beautiful. [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] just doesnā€™t have much of a spark to me. I much prefer the [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] spelling however.

I like [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]!

I think both are lovely names, but would lean towards [name_f]Juliet[/name_f].

I agree with this. [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] is a lovely name, while [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] really isnā€™t my cup of tea.

Iā€™m with @indilee and @grackym - Iā€™ve never really ā€œgottenā€ [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. I can understand her beauty, on a hypothetical level, but I just canā€™t come to feel any great emotion toward it. If Iā€™m being honest, I think [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m]'s [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is overrated, and my feelings toward the play carry over to the name of its tragic heroine, as well. I like [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], and even [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] all much more than [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. Occasionally I love her in combos (hereā€™s to you, [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], and [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]!), but I donā€™t think Iā€™d ever use her, personally.

Iā€™m being super biased here, though, because [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] is my absolute [name_m]FAVORITE[/name_m] name of all time. Of all the names in the world. Sheā€™s just. It. I would name a million daughters [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] if I could! :stuck_out_tongue: So itā€™s very easy for me to turn down [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], because I am absolutely, completely, all-the-heart-eyes in love with [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], and I desperately hope to have my own little [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] one day.

So [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]. One hundred trillion times squared [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]. :stuck_out_tongue:

I love [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. Itā€™s elegant, timeless, and just a tad exotic to me. [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] is nice (I prefer [name_f]Isobel[/name_f]) but doesnā€™t give me the same feeling.

I have to say [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. Sweet and elegant name with the spunky nn [name_u]Jules[/name_u]. Iā€™ve loved it since watching Psych and seeing Detective [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] Oā€™[name_f]Hara[/name_f]. [name_m]Major[/name_m] positive association.

[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]! I think itā€™s unique yet known. And personally, I love the nickname [name_u]Jules[/name_u].

Today Iā€™d pick [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]!

The names are both beautiful. [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] would be my choiceā€¦
If people love [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] -they really love it [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] to me is a name that sets up more expectation of the character or even the looks of the person.
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] is so versatile. She can be strong, elegant, sweet, beautiful or shy. She can be [name_u]Isa[/name_u] or [name_f]Bella[/name_f] or [name_f]Elle[/name_f] etc. so [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]!!

I love both. Today, my favorite is [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f].

I really love both, but prefer [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]. I also prefer [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] over [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. It lessens the [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] connection (even just a little!) and I guess I am simply a fan of double letters, lol. [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] is my top choice for a girl, but as a first name I favour [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f].

I love both, but I prefer [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] only because of my personal connection to the name.

Me too! I just found out that my great grandmother was named C@therine [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], and so I have really fallen in love with [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]. I also really love the fun, light, spunky [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]ā€¦ but I am not sure I would use it. I can definitely picture a daughter named [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], and not so much with [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], if that makes sense. Both are truly lovely names, though!

I like both names, but definitely different spellings for me. [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] seems so much more classic and elegant to me; whilst [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] seems more romantic and whimsical. Think it would have to be [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] for me, but [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] is a winning combo for me.

[name_f]Juliet[/name_f], [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] has had more than itā€™s fair share of fun in the sun.

I love your connection to [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]. When I was in high school I chose [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] as my confirmation name for the Catholic faith. [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] is the saint of service. My mother is pushing very hard for me to name my future daughter [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]. [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is also beautiful, one of my favorite names.
