Junior Masterchef Australia Names

I’ve been watching a ton of kids’ cooking competitions and these names (the contestants’ names) come from the Australian version of [name_m]Junior[/name_m] Masterchef. What do you think of them?

Girls:
[name_f]Tayla[/name_f] - Trendy and just odd, like the parents were trying to spell [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] but didn’t know how to. Either way, nothing girly about it so not my style.
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] (twin to [name_f]Sofia[/name_f]) - Boring and trendy. I like [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] better.
[name_f]Siena[/name_f] - Pretty. I would spell it with 2 N’s.
[name_f]Sofia[/name_f] (twin to [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]) - Pretty but really popular.
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] - Not a fan, but as a nickname for [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] or [name_f]Luciana[/name_f], I don’t mind it so much.
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] (times 2) - Beautiful, but too common.
[name_f]Ainsleigh[/name_f] - I kind of like it, but hate the spelling. [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u] is the proper spelling and I can tolerate [name_f]Ansley[/name_f], but anything else makes you look like you’re trying too hard.
[name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] - Okay, but I prefer [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] or [name_f]Cassia[/name_f]. I love the nickname [name_f]Cassie[/name_f].
Te [name_f]Ani[/name_f] ([name_u]Tay[/name_u]-[name_m]Ah[/name_m]-nee or something close to that. She is Maori and I’m not familiar with the language. I’m just going by what I heard) - I like [name_f]Ani[/name_f] as a nickname, but I’m not sure about the whole name together.
[name_u]Ashley[/name_u] - I prefer it for a boy.
[name_f]Emily[/name_f] - Pretty, but common. It’s been falling in popularity the last few years though.
[name_f]Greta[/name_f] - Gorgeous! It’s been growing on me a lot over the last year or two and now I really love it.
[name_f]Alysha[/name_f] ([name_m]Ah[/name_m]-[name_u]LEE[/name_u]-sha) - Not a fan of it. I would spell it [name_f]Alicia[/name_f], but I find it a bit dated now.
[name_u]Indigo[/name_u] - Not a fan. I don’t really care for girls’ names ending in O and dislike most colors as names.
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] - Beautiful, but very popular. I love [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] though. It’s a nice alternative to just [name_f]Lily[/name_f] or [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]. Those are great, I just prefer something a bit different.
Madi - [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t like it at all. It’s a nickname and I strongly dislike most -mad names in general. I like [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] and [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f], but still would never shorten them to [name_f]Maddie[/name_f]/Madi.
[name_f]Gracie[/name_f] - Not a fan. I don’t like nicknames as full names very much and I dislike [name_f]Grace[/name_f] because it almost sounds like “grease” when I say it.
[name_f]Jade[/name_f] - Not crazy about it, but it is a lot better with this spelling than [name_f]Jayde[/name_f] which I think is horrible.
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] - Beautiful!
Miraede (Ma-RAID. Sounds similar to the Irish name [name_f]Mairead[/name_f]) - The spelling is odd and makes no sense phonetically. I also think that some English speakers may have trouble with it. I admit I had trouble trying to pronounce her name when i first saw her name tag, and then the judges cleared it up for us. It’s a decent name other than that.
[name_f]Aya[/name_f] (EYE-ah) - Pretty. I love it. Very exotic, but familiar at the same time. People might mistake it for [name_f]Maya[/name_f] or maybe [name_f]Ava[/name_f] though.
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f] - Pretty, just a bit plain.

Favorites: [name_f]Greta[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Siena[/name_f], [name_f]Aya[/name_f], [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f]

Boys:
[name_u]Nick[/name_u] - As a nickname for [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m], it’s okay. I personally prefer [name_u]Nico[/name_u]/[name_u]Niko[/name_u].
[name_m]Harry[/name_m] - Can’t shake the HP association or the fact that I had a mean substitute teacher with this name.
[name_m]Pierre[/name_m] - Okay. It’s a good name, but not something I’d choose.
[name_m]Clarence[/name_m] - Okay. I’m starting to warm up to it.
[name_u]Sam[/name_u] - As a nickname for [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], it’s great. On its own, not so much.
[name_m]Anthony[/name_m] - Great, just a bit boring. I prefer [name_m]Antonio[/name_m] or [name_m]Anton[/name_m].
[name_u]Alex[/name_u] - Yet another nickname (I don’t know if that’s his full name or it’s short for something. It’s never explained). Otherwise, nothing wrong with it. It’s a classic.
[name_m]Jack[/name_m] (x2) - Good name, but overused.
[name_u]Chandler[/name_u] - Not a fan.
[name_m]Kieren[/name_m] - I prefer the [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] or [name_m]Ciaran[/name_m] spelling, but I like the name.
[name_m]Steven[/name_m] - Great name.
[name_m]Daniel[/name_m] - Handsome! [name_m]Just[/name_m] wish it wasn’t so common.
[name_m]Marcus[/name_m] - Like it.
[name_m]Tom[/name_m] - As a nickname for [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], it’s nice, but not on its own.
[name_m]Zac[/name_m] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_m]Zachary[/name_m].
[name_f]Dee[/name_f] - Not a fan.

Favorites: [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], [name_u]Kieran[/name_u]/[name_m]Ciaran[/name_m] (spelled correctly), [name_m]Marcus[/name_m], [name_m]Anthony[/name_m], [name_m]Steven[/name_m]

Interesting. I don’t find myself particularly a fan of many except for [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_u]Alex[/name_u], [name_m]Kieren[/name_m] (though deffo spelled [name_m]Ciaran[/name_m]) & [name_m]Marcus[/name_m]. Te [name_f]Ani[/name_f] is pronounced ‘teh-[name_m]AH[/name_m]-nee’ & I really like it though I could never use it.

I love/adore:

[name_f]Sofia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Gracie[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]

[name_m]Jack[/name_m]
[name_m]Kieren[/name_m]/[name_u]Kieran[/name_u]/[name_m]Ciaran[/name_m] - prefer the [name_m]Ciaran[/name_m] spelling followed by [name_u]Kieran[/name_u]
