Hey ladies.
So, I just found out I’m expecting.
Names have never really been a question. If its a boy, he’ll be named after his father.
A girl, however, poses a problem with the middle name.
I’m thinking [name_f]Eire[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_u]Paisley[/name_u] [name_m]Webber[/name_m], but I’m open to suggestions.
I want something in honor of my father ([name_m]Paul[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m]).
[name_f]Eire[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is really pretty. Is [name_u]Paisley[/name_u] an attempted feminisation of [name_m]Paul[/name_m]? I like it, it’s interesting. ([name_m]Webber[/name_m] is the last name?)
Yes, [name_u]Paisley[/name_u] would be for [name_m]Paul[/name_m] and [name_m]Webber[/name_m] is the husbands last name.
Originally I was thinking [name_f]Eire[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u], as [name_u]Jo[/name_u] is my mothers name, but I don’t like how that flows.
I like all of your names but I think that [name_f]Eire[/name_f] [name_u]Paisley[/name_u] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] flows best. I think [name_u]Paisley[/name_u] is a great female version of [name_m]Paul[/name_m]!
I forgot to mention, Eire is pronounce AIR-uh.
And I’m more attracted to “traditional” names. Adelaide, Hazel, Margaret, et al.
I like [name_f]Eire[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] (a shortened for of [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f])
I actually enjoy [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f], but it doesn’t flow well.
I’m more into traditional, but unique names (for example, boy #2 will be named Muiredach).
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Eire[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Polly[/name_f]?
I don’t think [name_u]Paisley[/name_u] flows well and I don’t really think anyone will pick up on the connection. As far as I know, [name_u]Paisley[/name_u] has no connection to [name_m]Paul[/name_m]. I agree with the previous poster of using [name_f]Pauline[/name_f] or [name_f]Paulina[/name_f]. I’d go with [name_f]Eire[/name_f] [name_f]Paulina[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f].
I like [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_u]Paisley[/name_u] best…all you really need is the initial and the thought to honor someone, and your version is lovely.
I didn’t want to use a direct derivative of my fathers first name because I have family members ([name_f]Paula[/name_f], [name_f]Pauline[/name_f]) that I don’t particularly care for.
I probably should have mentioned that.
Also, I’ve always felt that “[name_m]Paul[/name_m]” is way to masculine for a girl. [name_f]Paula[/name_f] was actually top of my parents list for me, as I’m thankful everyday that they chose otherwise.
I prefer strong and traditional, but flowery and unique.
With girls names, I’m ridiculously picky. Haha. I pray that I only have one girl, just so I don’t have to pick out another name.
I love the pp’s idea of Tamsin. A John variant might do, too–Jane, Jean, Joanna, Jana, Janet, Janice, Janine, Gianna, Hanna (as in Johanne, not Hannah), Evanna, Iva, Seona, Sinead, Siobhan.
I really don’t like Paisley for Paul (it feels like naming one’s child Plaid, but trendier), but I think Polly is awfully sweet.
Eire Polly Mae
Eire Mae Siobhan
Eire Tamsin Mae
If Eire Mae isn’t a double-first, then for flow it might work better at the end. Even Eire Paisley Mae feels like better flow than Eire Mae Paisley. Actually, I wouldn’t blink to hear that someone called Anna Beth was actually named Anna Olivia Beth and went by Anna Beth, so I think you can split Eire Mae if you wish.
Eire as in Ireland, not Eira as in Welsh for snow, right?
