We’ve been using this website for awhile getting ideas for the name of our 3rd daughter, but didn’t notice until today that Nameberry had a forum.
We have a list of names that we can’t seem to narrow down. We like all of them and see all of them working for our little one. We thought about asking family, but based on previous experience, I decided that probably was a bad idea.
Our oldest daughter is [name]Elisabeth[/name] [name]Marie[/name] and our youngest (for now) is [name]Catharine[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. [name]Libby[/name] and [name]Cate[/name].
Our rule is I pick a DH-approved family fn (or a variation) and he picks the mn.
Logically I’d put [name]Victoria[/name] or [name]Margaret[/name] with [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Catherine[/name]. I always group these names together as being of similar style.
I also like (to go with [name]Libby[/name] and [name]Cate[/name]):
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name] nn [name]Bea[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] nn [name]Josie[/name]/[name]Jo[/name]
[name]Juliana[/name]
[name]Lucinda[/name] nn [name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name] nn [name]Tilly[/name]
[name]Rosalind[/name] nn [name]Rosa[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name] nn [name]Susie[/name]
[name]Alice[/name], [name]Anne[/name], [name]Gemma[/name], [name]Jane[/name] and [name]Mary[/name] would make good middlenames too. (Though [name]Mary[/name] is similar to [name]Marie[/name], would that bother you?)
Combos I like:
[name]Victoria[/name] [name]Jane[/name] nn [name]Tori[/name] ([name]Libby[/name], [name]Cate[/name] and [name]Tori[/name])
[name]Margaret[/name] [name]Alice[/name] nn [name]Maggie[/name] ([name]Libby[/name], [name]Cate[/name] and [name]Maggie[/name])
[name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Anne[/name] nn [name]Bea[/name] ([name]Libby[/name], [name]Cate[/name] and [name]Bea[/name])
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Mary[/name] nn Imz ([name]Libby[/name], [name]Cate[/name] and Imz)
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Belle[/name] nn [name]Josie[/name] ([name]Libby[/name], [name]Cate[/name] and [name]Josie[/name])
[name]Juliana[/name] [name]Louise[/name] nn [name]Jules[/name] ([name]Libby[/name], [name]Cate[/name] and [name]Jules[/name])
[name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Jane[/name] nn [name]Lucy[/name] ([name]Libby[/name], [name]Cate[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name])
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Rose[/name] nn [name]Tilly[/name] ([name]Libby[/name], [name]Cate[/name] and [name]Tilly[/name])
[name]Rosalind[/name] [name]Gemma[/name] nn [name]Rosa[/name] ([name]Libby[/name], [name]Cate[/name] and [name]Rosa[/name])
[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Jane[/name] nn [name]Susie[/name] ([name]Libby[/name], [name]Cate[/name] and [name]Susie[/name])
[name]Belle[/name]
[name]Darcy[/name]
[name]Frances[/name]
[name]Jean[/name]
[name]Joy[/name]
[name]Naomi[/name] (would also make a good first name choice!)
[name]Noelle[/name]
[name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Sophia[/name]
I think you have some great names to choose from especially for first names!
No, it doesn’t bother me that [name]Marie[/name] and [name]Mary[/name] are close. In fact, my girls were almost [name]Elisabeth[/name] [name]Mary[/name] and [name]Catharine[/name] [name]Marie[/name].
And you’re right, [name]Naomi[/name] would be a good fn too, but my husband’s favorite sister is named [name]Naomi[/name] and we’d probably get them confused.
[name]Elisabeth[/name] [name]Marie[/name] NN [name]Libby[/name], [name]Catharine[/name] [name]Grace[/name] NN [name]Cate[/name] and…
[name]Josephine[/name] (NNJosie <3) [name]Blythe[/name], [name]Noelle[/name], [name]Sloane[/name]…[name]Even[/name] with the ine ending on both this and [name]Cate[/name]'s names this is my favorite with the other girls. Out of the MNs I like [name]Noelle[/name] best but the N ending and begining together might be too much for some.
[name]Vivienne[/name] (NNs [name]Vi[/name], [name]Vivi[/name]) [name]Blythe[/name], [name]Noelle[/name]…this is my second favorite with the other girls.
All of your names are beautiful as are your other daughters’. Good luck!!
