Wow, you’ve only met three [name]Williams[/name]! I have three just in my close family, they all go by [name]Bill[/name]! Plus it’s my BILs name, but he goes by BJ. I dated a [name]William[/name] in high school, and a [name]Billy[/name] in college. My husband has a friend who goes by [name]Will[/name]. Oh, I also worked with a 30ish [name]Bill[/name] recently. We used to have a neighbor [name]Bill[/name] who like to go to the dump… My junior year english teacher’s first name was [name]Bill[/name], and my senior year was Mr. [name]Williams[/name]. Oh, now that i think about it I know a few other Bills, too. Wow, I know a lot and I can’t believe you’ve only met three! That’s crazy!
You have only met 3 [name]Williams[/name] in your LIFE? That is insane. I literally probaby know about 100 [name]Williams[/name]. My grandfather is one, and my grandmother is always lobbying for me to have a little [name]William[/name], but there is no way I can do that, even thought I prefer classic boys names. [name]William[/name] and [name]Henry[/name] are [name]WAY[/name] too ubiquitous for me right now.

So this intrigued me and I went to check the stats on the ssa list. It turns out that Wililam is actually the top name in most states in the South, so this explains why I know a lot of them. Wililam is actually number 1 in more states than [name]Jacob[/name].
And to think my husband wanted to name our kid [name]William[/name] if we have a boy…yikes. Its a great name, but like you pointed out, pheobe, its a VERY popular name, especially in the south. Guess where I live :).
I mean, you can’t argue that [name]William[/name] is a great name. But there are so many equally classic options that aren’t quite so hot, you know? BTW, in the middle of my posts about this, I checked Facebook and saw that a sorority sister of mine in another town had a baby. His name? You guessed it! [name]William[/name] [name]Parker[/name].
Bummer for me about all the [name]William[/name]'s, it’s been so hard for me to believe that it’s really all that popular. It’s one of our top choices if our [name]December[/name] baby is a boy, because it’s my grandfather’s name and it sounds so great with our last name. But I’m a [name]Jessica[/name] born in the early 80s and I went through having such a common name in school and don’t want to do it to my kids.
Well if you make him a [name]Bill[/name]/[name]Billy[/name] it wouldn’t be that bad. Most young [name]Williams[/name] now go by [name]Will[/name], [name]William[/name], or [name]Liam[/name].
What does everyone think of [name]Bill[/name]?
I am considering [name]William[/name] too, but the other nicknames don’t go with my last name…
summerautumn, I love [name]Bill[/name]! There was a discussion about it recently, maybe you can search for it? Well, most people thought that [name]Bill[/name] was too much of a middle-aged name for a baby. But I don’t think so, I think it would be refreshing, personally. And I know that it ages well since I have so many relatives that go by [name]Bill[/name]. It’s also fun to write in cursive,
I love [name]Bill[/name]/[name]Billy[/name] as well. I think it would be refreshing and adorable on a [name]William[/name] nowadays. Plus with the [name]True[/name] Blood thing it could possibly really come into swing again. I already hear people talking about [name]Sukey[/name] ([name]Sookie[/name]), and you can never underestimate the power of television.
Oh wow. I know/knew all of one [name]William[/name]. He was the son of the tenants of my grandparent’s rental house about five years ago. My brother (20) is a [name]Liam[/name], but it isn’t short for [name]William[/name]. He’s just [name]Liam[/name]. Or Lime/[name]Lemon[/name], depending on who you ask.
In first or second grade, he had a teacher who called him Lime, much to my mom’s chagrin. She kept correcting the teacher, but the teacher went on to lead all of the other kids to call my brother Lime. Then, coincidentally, we moved.
I LOOVE [name]CHANDLER[/name]! Especailly for a girl. Damn Friends for making me unable to use this name! ("Chandlers a girl! Chandlers a girl!)
