I would go with [name]Kai[/name]. I could see [name]Kaj[/name] getting misspronounced often.

I’m [name]German[/name], so I would have no pronunciation issues with [name]Kaj[/name], and I actually prefer that spelling.

[name]Kai[/name]!

Hm… [name]Kai[/name] looks a lot more trendy, but [name]Kaj[/name] will definitely get pronunciation problems. I’d say go with [name]Kaj[/name] if you’re not in the US or place where it’ll be mispronounced.

[name]Kai[/name] all the way, as a previous poster said, [name]Kaj[/name] might encounter pronunciation issues with the general public. I [name]LOVE[/name] this name!!! It is one of my all time favourites (though I gotta say, [name]Thor[/name] is also AWESOME! [name]Both[/name] are on my boys list!! Kudos to yuo for amazingly fantastic taste!!). I lvoe the meaning of [name]Kai[/name], if you google it, and I think there is also a wikipedia page on it, you’ll find many different meanings for a range of languages.

Thanx Bex! I chose [name]Kai[/name] for the Hawaiian meaning so I’ll go with the Hawaiian spelling - [name]Kai[/name] it is! What else is on your list? We’ve been through:

Amund
[name]Laird[/name]
[name]Leif[/name]
[name]Kelly[/name]
[name]Henrik[/name]
[name]Duke[/name]
[name]Markus[/name]
[name]Thor[/name]
Torvald

Our girl choice is [name]Elena[/name] [name]Marit[/name] or [name]Elaina[/name] [name]Scout[/name].

I love [name]Elaina[/name], so pretty. [name]Do[/name] you pronounce [name]Elena[/name] and [name]Elaina[/name] the same way? I do, but I’ve been told that [name]Elena[/name] is really suppose to be pronounced E-leh-nah. I prefer [name]Elaina[/name] for that reason. [name]Elaina[/name] [name]Scout[/name] is super cute.

Yes, pronounced the same way. We like the American [name]Elaina[/name] spelling with the American [name]Scout[/name]. And the European spelling [name]Elena[/name] with the Norwegian [name]Marit[/name] pr. Mahr-eat. [name]Scout[/name] is my choice while my wife prefers [name]Marit[/name].

AWESOME!! [name]Kai[/name] really is a great name. And if you’re still not sold on it, another idea is that (not sure if there is any [name]German[/name] heritage with you and your mrs) you could always call him [name]Kaiser[/name] (I noticed you had [name]Duke[/name] on your list) and call him [name]Kai[/name] for short!!

I quite like [name]Elena[/name] [name]Marit[/name] - especially with your Scandinavian heritage!! My hubby’s aunty is called Maarit (they’re Finnish) and she is lovely.

Other names on my list?? I actually just did a post on D’Artagnan - it is my all time favourite name, but alas!! Like [name]Thor[/name], the Three Musketeers is now being made into a movie as well!! And we aren’t TTC, so if we use that name I anticipate many a comment about how we used it from the movie. Grrr!! It’s always been a favourite of mine. :(.
Other names on my list you may be interested in:
[name]Magnus[/name]
[name]Thane[/name]
[name]Raiden[/name]
[name]Hendrix[/name]
[name]Johann[/name]
Tahvo (I think it means crown in Finnish??)
Kalevi
Ingwe
Valhalla (I know, but there are lots of reasons, the Scandinavia link, the Immigrant Song, lots of history and meaning…)

For a girl
[name]Thora[/name](not sure people are smart enough to make the connection, I think they might think of the actress [name]Thora[/name] [name]Birch[/name] instead)
[name]Ingrid[/name]

I really like [name]Duke[/name] as well, but I’m in Australia, and there is a law (for real!) that states parents aren’t allowed to name their kids a title, like [name]Duke[/name], [name]Prince[/name], [name]King[/name] etc. My hubby loves [name]Duke[/name] [name]Ellington[/name], so was not happy about that!!!

Anything strike a chord?
