Recently added this to our list of potentials for our baby girl due in [name_f]October[/name_f]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] wanted to get people’s thoughts/opinions/impressions of the name. According to the social security website, the it enjoyed some brief popularity during the 90s (due to figure skater [name_f]Katarina[/name_f] [name_u]Witt[/name_u]), peaked at 478 in 1994 and dropped out of the top 1000 after 2005. We’d most likely use [name_f]Kat[/name_f] or [name_f]Rin[/name_f] as a nickname.
This is a name on my list for a middle name. I love it. I would likely spell it [name_f]Katerina[/name_f], but that’s just preference. I also like the closely related Katelina. If I were to use it as a first name, I’d either call her [name_f]Rina[/name_f]/Lina or [name_f]Kate[/name_f]/Katie. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Kat[/name_f].
Katarina is beautiful! I’ve only ever met one, and she’s now in her 20s. I’d love to meet a little one with the name. I think [name_f]Kat[/name_f] is so cute, too!
I like it! I like [name_f]Katerina[/name_f] too, and slightly prefer that spelling.
Katarina is sweet! Lively and sweet but also mature and sophisticated
This is one of my favorite names!! I do like the [name_f]Katerina[/name_f] or [name_f]Caterina[/name_f] spelling more, though. It sounds sophisticated, but spunky and pretty, too!! Congratulations and best of luck!!
I love it!
Beautiful choice, have only known one little girl who went the nickname [name_f]Kitty[/name_f].
Good luck!
I really like [name_f]Katerina[/name_f]. Not so keen on [name_f]Katarina[/name_f] as sadly I speak Spanish and that’s the word for ladybug (catarina) so I guess that does influence heavily on my opinion.
I think that it’s a nice name, strong but still feminine. I personally prefer [name_f]Caterina[/name_f] or [name_f]Katerina[/name_f], but [name_f]Katarina[/name_f] is lovely as well.
I love [name_f]Katarina[/name_f]! It’s so beautiful! A lovely twist to [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] and the most common variations. [name_f]Katarina[/name_f] has an international, regal and sophisticated feeling.
That’s very interesting! [name_f]Catarina[/name_f] is a very popular name in Portugal (and Portuguese) but the word for ladybugs is “joaninha” - little [name_f]Joana[/name_f]. Ladybugs are actually a sweet association.
[name_f]Glad[/name_f] to see such a positive response to the name! We probably won’t decide on anything for sure until the baby gets here in [name_f]October[/name_f] but as of right now, [name_f]Katarina[/name_f] is one out top choices (I’m kind of indecisive though, so that could change by next week. )
I like it.
