Kate or Elise?

Hubby and I are stumped on a first name for our daughter. We’ve decided on [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] for a middle name but can’t decide between [name_f]Elise[/name_f] or [name_f]Kate[/name_f] for the first name, with [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and katie as nicknames when they’re young.

Which do you like better? [name_f]Kate[/name_f] (katie) or [name_f]Elise[/name_f] (ellie)?

Both are beautiful! But I love [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Rachel[/name_f]!

[name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] “Ellie” is absolutely perfect. I love it!!! That’s my choice for sure.

Sweet spunky [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is generally my preference, but [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] is lovely!

[name_f]Elise[/name_f]!

I like both but I think [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] flows better

[name_f]Elise[/name_f].

I love the name [name_f]Elise[/name_f] - it’s pretty and tailored - and think it flows better to [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] (though without knowing your last name).

But (and this is probably meaningless), I don’t warm to [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] at all! I would use [name_f]Elise[/name_f] as much as possible and otherwise [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], Elsie-Ray (;), [name_f]Lise[/name_f], Lisey, [name_f]Lil[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f] or even [name_f]Ella[/name_f].

[name_f]Kate[/name_f] is a very smart, open, confident name - and a nice break from all the L names!

I prefer [name_f]Elise[/name_f] over [name_f]Kate[/name_f], but [name_f]Katie[/name_f] over [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] so that’s a tough one
I think I’ll go with [name_f]Elise[/name_f] as it flows better with [name_f]Rachel[/name_f]

I absolutely adore [name_f]Kate[/name_f], but [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] flows beautifully (although I definitely prefer [name_f]Elise[/name_f] to Ellie!)

[name_f]Elise[/name_f], without a doubt!

Congratulations!! Both of your choices are beautiful, and I don’t think you can go wrong. I will say that I prefer [name_f]Elise[/name_f] as a middle name, but I think [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] flows better than [name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_f]Rachel[/name_f]. I prefer the [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] to [name_f]Katie[/name_f] as well.

Congratulations again, and I hope this helps!

I think [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] flows better. [name_f]Elise[/name_f] is less common. [name_f]Elise[/name_f] does not need a nickname; it is only two syllables. If you do use a nickname [name_f]Elise[/name_f] has some interesting ones that are less common than [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Lise[/name_f] ( LEESE) or Lisi (LEE see). It seems more intuitive than [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], since the second syllable is accented.

[name_f]Kate[/name_f] is beautiful :sunflower:

Both names are gorgeous however [name_f]Kate[/name_f] makes my heart smile. [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is elegant, wholesome, has gorgeous cottagecore imagery with so much spunk attached to her and sounds sweet with [name_f]Rachel[/name_f].

[name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] takes it for me!!

While I like both [name_f]Elise[/name_f] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f], I think [name_f]Elise[/name_f] just has such soft, lovely feminine vibes, and is much more underused than [name_f]Kate[/name_f] / [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f] / [name_f]Katie[/name_f] variants. I also think [name_f]Elise[/name_f] sounds much better with Rachel!!

Congratulations, wishing you best of luck and so much health and happiness!! :green_heart:
