I’m new here, but wanted to get some fresh & honest opinions on the name [name]Kate[/name]. Not [name]Katherine[/name], [name]Kathleen[/name], [name]Katrina[/name], just [name]Kate[/name]. Is it too much of a nickname or can it stand alone?
And any MN suggestions? I love the flow of [name]Elizabeth[/name] with it, but it’s my niece’s name and I don’t want to repeat it.
Thank you!
I love [name]Kate[/name], just [name]Kate[/name]. I think it’s elegant and strong. There are a few threads about [name]Kate[/name], and I’ll try to find them for you…
One of, if not the best, nickname names that is arguably better than its full name!
The only concern with [name]Kate[/name] is if you have a 1-syllable last name since it will sound choppy.
The one exception I’ve noticed to this rule, is with actress [name]Claire[/name] Danes. But, I think her name works beautifully because her last name has an “s,” adding a plural sound. [name]Hence[/name], [name]Claire[/name] [name]Dane[/name] sounds choppy whereas [name]Claire[/name] Danes flows.
I would also recommend a longer middle name to balance it out.
[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Kate[/name]! Definitely agree that it’s one of the best names.
[name]Kate[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] popped into my head right away.
[name]Kate[/name] [name]Lynn[/name]
[name]Kate[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Kate[/name] [name]Olivia[/name]
[name]Love[/name] [name]Kate[/name], and I love [name]Kate[/name] [name]Alexandra[/name], [name]Kate[/name] [name]Amelia[/name], [name]Kate[/name] [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Kate[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] (even though it’s out, I think it’s lovely) and [name]Kate[/name] [name]Isabell/name.
It is pretty, but it depends on how you say [name]Adrianna[/name]. I’ve heard it said so many ways, it can be confusing. I would pronounce it as
AY-DRE-[name]ANNA[/name].

That’s how I pronounce it (it’s my name, and I would prefer the MN to be a family name or close to one, at least).
