Katherine nn Kat or Kate

Which do you prefer, [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] nn [name_f]Kat[/name_f] or [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] nn [name_f]Kate[/name_f]?

[name_f]Kat[/name_f]! It’s youthful and quirky

I am a [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f] nn [name_f]Katie[/name_f]/[name_f]Kate[/name_f], but I actually love [name_f]Kat[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]! I agree with @opheliaflora, it is fresh and fun, and strong too.

Both are lovely, but [name_f]Kat[/name_f] or [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] would be standouts.

[name_f]Kat[/name_f] is my favorite nickname for [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]!

I prefer [name_f]Kate[/name_f] by miles out of those 2. [name_f]Kat[/name_f] just feels a bit try hard to me, whereas [name_f]Kate[/name_f] feels traditional and grown-up. I love [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] and [name_u]Kit[/name_u] as well.

Difficult! I really love them both. Also [name_u]Kit[/name_u]! If I absolutely had to pick between the two I’d probably go for [name_f]Kate[/name_f].

I used to prefer [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] with a K then I fell in love with [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] with a C. So I love [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], [name_f]Cate[/name_f], [name_f]Cathy[/name_f], and [name_f]Kitty[/name_f].

I do still love [name_f]Kate[/name_f], though I have known a number and of course there’s the ubiquitous princess.

One spelling I dislike is [name_f]Kathy[/name_f].

If I were going K, I would name her [name_f]Katharine[/name_f] like Hepburn, pray no one called her [name_f]Kathy[/name_f] or [name_f]Katie[/name_f], and nickname her [name_f]Kitty[/name_f].

If I were going with the softer C, I would call her [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], [name_f]Cate[/name_f], and [name_f]Kitty[/name_f].

[name_u]Leslie[/name_u]

[name_f]Kat[/name_f] is adorable.

[name_f]Kate[/name_f], by an astronomic level!

I’m [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f] (worst spelling ever, no offence to anyone who likes it) and I go by [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. I was [name_f]Katie[/name_f] for a while in school but that changed when I changed schools.

I’ve never had anyone try to call me [name_f]Kat[/name_f] and personally I’m not a fan of it.

And the only people that have ever tried to call me [name_f]Kathy[/name_f] have done it do annoy me and have been shut down pretty quick.

I don’t mind [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] though no-one has ever tried to use it as a nickname for me, I don’t think it’s really a direct nn.

[name_f]Kat[/name_f]! It’s a little fresher and less staid.

My daughter is [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] and has never known as [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. She is called [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], but [name_f]Kat[/name_f] seems to be the natural shortened version that we sometimes use.
