DH and I found out last week that we are expecting a little boy, and in the last week or so we came up with a list. Nothing has really struck either one of us as THE ONE, and I wanted some more inspiration to see if there are any great names out there that we may have missed.
A little bit of information about us: Our last name begins with an S and ends with -es. I guess I could describe our naming style as we like well-known (but nothing that sounds too trendy), but not old-fashioned. We have a few exceptions, but that’s generally what I have seen we’ve been leaning towards.
Here is the list:
First Names
[name_m]Ace[/name_m]—GP (More trendy than the others, but I kind of like it)
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]
[name_u]Blake[/name_u]
[name_m]Brian[/name_m]
[name_m]Caleb[/name_m]
[name_m]Chance[/name_m]
[name_m]Cole[/name_m]
[name_m]Dominic[/name_m]
[name_m]Eric[/name_m]/[name_m]Erik[/name_m] (prefer it with a K)
[name_m]Garrett[/name_m]
[name_m]Gavin[/name_m]
[name_m]Grant[/name_m]
[name_u]Hunter[/name_u]
[name_m]Jack[/name_m]
[name_m]Jake[/name_m]
[name_m]Jarrett[/name_m]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m]
[name_u]Reid[/name_u]
[name_m]Travis[/name_m]
[name_m]Trent[/name_m]
Middle Names
[name_u]James[/name_u]–Not an option for a first name due to some negative associations that DH has with people with this name
[name_m]Patrick[/name_m]–Not a fan for the FN, but this is a family name to honor my late uncle
[name_u]Karel[/name_u]—This is [name_m]Charles[/name_m] in Czech…was my great grandfather’s FN…more of a guilty pleasure name, but I really do love it.
[name_m]Richard[/name_m]–Family name in DH’s family. It’s his grandfather’s, uncle’s, and cousin’s FN, as well as DH’s MN. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t want to use it a FN, but we agreed we could put it in the MN spot
Keep:
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m] - Like the nn [name_m]Xander[/name_m] or [name_m]Alec[/name_m]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]
[name_m]Cole[/name_m] - as a nn for Colson
[name_m]Dominic[/name_m] - Like the nn [name_u]Nico[/name_u]
[name_m]Gavin[/name_m]
[name_m]Jack[/name_m]
[name_m]Jarrett[/name_m]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m] - Also like [name_m]Milo[/name_m]

All the Middles if they have personal meaning
Maybe as a MN:
[name_m]Ace[/name_m]
[name_u]Blake[/name_u]
[name_m]Caleb[/name_m]
[name_m]Chance[/name_m]
[name_m]Grant[/name_m]
Prefer:
[name_m]Gareth[/name_m], [name_m]Garrison[/name_m] to [name_m]Garrett[/name_m]
[name_m]Archer[/name_m] to [name_u]Hunter[/name_u]
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u] to [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites would be [name_u]Reed[/name_u] [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] or [name_m]Miles[/name_m]/[name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m].
[name_u]Reid[/name_u] [name_u]Karel[/name_u] [name_u]Love[/name_u]!
[name_u]Reid[/name_u] is my favourite from your list and I would also use it. I agree that [name_u]Reeve[/name_u] is also gorgeous.
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is a very handsome combination. I also like [name_m]Dominic[/name_m] [name_u]Reid[/name_u]. Some combination suggestions: [name_m]Gavin[/name_m] [name_m]Richard[/name_m], [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Karel[/name_u], [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_u]Karel[/name_u], [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] [name_m]Richard[/name_m] and [name_m]Travis[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u].
Similar names based on your list:
[name_m]Jared[/name_m]
[name_m]Jacob[/name_m]
[name_m]Jacoby[/name_m]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m]
[name_m]Gunther[/name_m]
[name_m]Nikolai[/name_m] ([name_m]Cole[/name_m]/Kol)
[name_m]Jason[/name_m]/[name_u]Mason[/name_u] ([name_m]Ace[/name_m])
[name_m]Charles[/name_m] (Nicknamed [name_m]Chance[/name_m]? I’ve heard [name_u]Chase[/name_u] for this before also.)
Thanks y’all! I’ll show these to DH and see what he thinks. The only MN that doesn’t have any personal meaning is [name_u]James[/name_u]. I just thought it was a nice name.
