Can you see [name]Kerrigan[/name] on a girl. To me it sounds very feminine. We had a priest in the family a long time ago and his last name was [name]Kerrigan[/name]. He was kind of the staple that held the whole family together and I would love to honor him, because he is so special to all of us, but I don’t think I could do it with a boy. Any thoughts?
i think it’s more feminine if you would use the nickname [name]Kerri[/name], but i think it could work on a boy too. i do make an association to nancy kerrigan when i hear the name, but obviously if you do use the name, none of her peers will have any idea who that is so i don’t know if it really matters!
I find [name]Kerrigan[/name] to be more masculine-sounding than [name]Keegan[/name] (which is surprisingly common for a boy). I’m assuming it’s pronounced [name]Kerr[/name]-ah-gan? But I like it for a girl. Actually, I like the nn [name]Keegan[/name] for a female [name]Kerrigan[/name].
Thanks!! and yes the pronunciation is “[name]Kerr[/name]-uh-gan”.
@taz, I never made the [name]Nancy[/name] [name]Kerrigan[/name] connection LOL, but I still love it, it means so much more to me
@tressa, I think the NN [name]Keegan[/name] might be very cute too
i [name]LOVE[/name] keegan as a nickname for this! i like it better than kerri.
[name]Kerrigan[/name] reads masculine to me. I think it would make an excellent middle name choice for you.
I’m not a huge fan, sorry. It’s not very feminine to me, and I don’t think it really goes all that well with your favorites. It’s not a bad name, just nms. I’m not crazy about [name]Kerri[/name] or [name]Keegan[/name], tbh. I think [name]Cara[/name] would be adorable as a nn, though!
I have to go with the consensus - I’d more expect it on a boy.
I could see it on a little girl, but I would register it as another “man’s surname on a girl trend” name, of which I am no fan (I had a hard time with [name]Madison[/name], [name]Kennedy[/name] and [name]Reagan[/name] too…presidents not little girls to me). Incidentally, [name]Kerrigan[/name] would be a perfect fit to [name]George[/name] M. Cohan’s “Harrigan” song.
I can see it working on a girl, mostly just because when I see [name]Kerrigan[/name], I think of [name]Nancy[/name].
