Kerry or Kelly?

Which of these girls names do you prefer and why?

[name_f]My[/name_f] instinct is that I prefer [name_u]Kerry[/name_u], although they both feel a bit 90s/00s to me. Not sure if the data backs that up!

[name_u]Kerry[/name_u] gives me unisex, Celtic and brisk vibes like exploring in the fresh air, whereas [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] feels more little-girly - maybe I’m thinking of the [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] dolls? And those Lelli [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] shoes which are very pink

[name_u]Kerry[/name_u]! It feels more special and cheery to me—plus less dated. I know a lot of adult women named [name_u]Kelly[/name_u], a lot. I’ve never met a [name_u]Kerry[/name_u].

Ooooh tough choice! [name_u]Love[/name_u] both!

I think [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] is more friendly and girly, more rollerskates and sunshine soaked pavements. I prefer spelling [name_f]Kellie[/name_f] though.

I think [name_u]Kerry[/name_u] Is a little stronger in sound, and more intriguing. I also like [name_f]Kerri[/name_f].

I wpuld go for [name_u]Kerry[/name_u] today

I think [name_u]Kerry[/name_u] - kind of warm and rugged, but slightly sweet?

I like both, but [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] is my preferred. I love @judy.newstead’s description of friendly and girly with rollerskates and sunshine soaked pavements, which is exactly the vibe I get from that name.

I love the [name_f]Kellie[/name_f] spelling! That’s something I think takes away from the fact that [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] is also a surname

[name_u]Kelly[/name_u] because its more my style, possibly because it feels more feminine? If it was between [name_f]Carrie[/name_f] and [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] it might be a different story.

Honestly, I’d go for Kerry… I like the strong sound more I suppose

I’m a [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] and I love my name! I’m 29 and only met a few handful in my entire life with the same name as me. It does sometimes get misspelled and I get asked “ how do you spell it” but that’s not very often at all. I really enjoyed being the only [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] in my school and I went to a HUGE school. Someone did have the last name of [name_u]Kelley[/name_u] but that was it. Friends shortened it to Kel when they wanted but otherwise I like it. For context I’m not girly at all, sweat pants and no makeup everyday. [name_m]Hung[/name_m] out with the boys and played multiple sports. Played war and dug trenches with the neighborhood boys growing up. Idk if any of that helps.

I prefer [name_u]Kerry[/name_u], but with the spelling of [name_u]Carey[/name_u]. I think it sounds warm and classic, and I don’t think it’s that common - I think I’ve met one or two Kerry’s in my lifetime. [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] makes me think 80s/90s - not really sure why, but I still like it.

I prefer [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] because [name_u]Kerry[/name_u] reminds me of curry sauce

[name_u]Kerry[/name_u] reminds me of [name_u]John[/name_u] [name_u]Kerry[/name_u]. [name_f]Carrie[/name_f] is cute but not [name_u]Kerry[/name_u]. [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] is sweet and versatile!

I guess I’m the only one but I think [name_u]Kerry[/name_u] sounds more dated than [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]! maybe because of the popularity of [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], it makes [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] a bit easier to imagine on a little girl. I pronounce [name_u]Kerry[/name_u] exactly like [name_f]Carrie[/name_f] and [name_u]Carey[/name_u] though so maybe that makes a difference. I much prefer [name_u]Kelly[/name_u], if I had to pick.

I love [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]! I think it’s sweet and spunky. Ready for a comeback! [name_u]Kerry[/name_u] is also nice, though I prefer the [name_u]Kari[/name_u] spelling.
