Kiki

What do you think about the name [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] as a full name, not nickname… my husband loves it as it would be an honor name… I think it’s cute but don’t know how I feel about it being a name and not a nickname.

I think it could work well for some people but not for others. It could definitely be a stand alone name but it might seem very informal in certain communities but just fine in others. Thats my guess.

Hmm, I think it’s cute as a nickname, but I struggle seeing it on an adult. I think people would be quick to judge someone with the name.

I know a woman named [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] and she’s never had a problem with it. So it can definitely work. Nicknames as full names aren’t my personal style, but sometimes meaning is more important.

I think it works on all ages. Keke [name_u]Palmer[/name_u] carries it just fine, so I don’t see why not. I do prefer it as a nickname, but still !

It’s used as a name in the Netherlands. If you really love it go for it.

To me, it’s more of a nickname than a full name. I’m not saying it couldn’t work on the right person, but it’s quite a striking, uncommon choice so it could feel jarring on the “wrong” personality, so to speak. It’s a feisty, artsy, informal, high-energy kind of name.

There are other similar nicknames that I think work as standalones, due to having a more established history of use or a slightly calmer or more rounded sound: [name_f]Suki[/name_f], [name_f]Gigi[/name_f], [name_f]Zaza[/name_f], [name_f]Kika[/name_f], and [name_u]Coco[/name_u] spring to mind.

I do like it though! We use it as an occasional pet name for [name_u]Kit[/name_u].

I have a cousin who has this as a nickname. As she is still in school (I think she just started University, but with COVID who knows anymore), we don’t know what name she will use professionally. I know some of the communities (work related) her family is involved in, [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] wouldn’t cut it, so it is nice having her formal name to fall back on in those situations. Otherwise, she uses her NN pretty much exclusively.

Kiki makes me think of kiwi, but not in a bad way. It’s cute!

I don’t think it can stand alone, sorry. It also looks similar to a slur (I can’t tell you what it is, but it’s used against Jews) and could easily be misread as such. I do like it as a nickname though!

I like it just by itself I think surname sounding middle names will pair better with it. I know some people also like long flourished middle names with a short name too.

It is not a name to me, definitely a nickname or a sound.

My husband had a Great Great Aunt [name_f]Kiki[/name_f], so nicknamed b/c she made cookies.

I think ti is so cute. I love names like that. I think you should go for it.

I can’t see it as a name, unfortunately. I’m not against nickname-as-full-names, but can’t see [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] as a name.

I really like [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] as a nickname (it reminds me of Kiki’s Delivery Service :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:), but I would not choose it as a full name. To me, it just feels too cute and informal. Though I’m sure some people can pull it off as a formal name.

As many others have said, I think it could work on the right person, but may not be the easiest name to carry as a full name. It really just makes me think of [name_f]Kiki[/name_f]’s Delivery Service and it feels cute, spunky, and artsy to me. Definitely more nickname than full name, but I don’t think it would phase me if I met someone whose full name was [name_f]Kiki[/name_f], either.

I went to school with a just [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] and she wore it really well!! I think it’s fun & cute & definitely grows! There’s also [name_f]Kika[/name_f] which I adore! A little bit more full than [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] but feels similar?

I agree that it’s just a little bit too cutesey for a full name. It really is sweet though! It could work on the right person but it is pushing it. I personally wouldn’t judge someone for this name or think any less of them in a professional environment, but unfortunately some people do hold these negative views around names. It does remind me of Kiki’s Delivery Service though which is a cute association!

I like the suggestion of [name_f]Kika[/name_f].

I think it could work, I knew someone at my last job who went by [name_f]Fifi[/name_f] professionally (an accounting firm), so I don’t think it’s that big of a deal.
