Kindergarten Girls

I was walking past the kindergarten classrooms when I noticed the kids’ projects displayed on the walls, with their names signed on them.

There were some pretty interesting choices (it’s an all-girls school) including:

[name_f]Elysia[/name_f]
Zarabella
[name_u]Michal[/name_u] (Like [name_u]Michael[/name_u], but for a girl, and with no E!?)
[name_f]Eugenie[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f] (Rising in popularity, but undoubtedly pretty)
[name_f]Coco[/name_f]

What do you think of these names? What other, not-so-common names do you hear on the little kids in your neighborhoods or schools?

LL

[name_f]Elysia[/name_f]: Very pretty for the middle spot. I’m afraid of pronunciation problems if I put it in the first name spot.
Zarabella: I prefer [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], but the Z makes it zesty
[name_u]Michal[/name_u]: What the?!
[name_f]Eugenie[/name_f]: NMS, but I see the appeal.
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]: Beautiful name, and I actually know the sweetest little [name_f]Amelie[/name_f].
[name_f]Coco[/name_f]: More of a nickname to me.

I adore [name_u]Michal[/name_u]. It’s the only one of those I’d use.

It’s a Jewish name, Biblical and Top 10 in [name_m]Israel[/name_m]. It’s a different name than [name_u]Michael[/name_u], just like [name_f]Noa[/name_f] is a different Hebrew name from [name_u]Noah[/name_u]. It’s mee-KHAL and I think it’s really pretty.

Aside from that I like [name_f]Zara[/name_f] and [name_f]Bella[/name_f] but the smush is a bit much.

[name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce [name_f]Elysia[/name_f]? It’s so pretty! Ee-lie-jah? [name_m]Elijah[/name_m]?

E-li-see-ah. Closer to [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f] than [name_m]Elijah[/name_m].

I like them all! I’m not around a ton of little little kids anymore, since my youngest sister’s about to enter college in a couple of months, but I try to catch names as often as I can! The last several I remember hearing:

[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Landon[/name_m]
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m]
[name_u]Micah[/name_u]
[name_u]Evan[/name_u]
[name_f]McKenna[/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] (sisters)
[name_u]Emerson[/name_u] (girl)

Not very interesting, I suppose, but most of the names I hear in my state aren’t too interesting, haha. Most of the interesting names I hear are on adults these days.

I like [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f], [name_f]Amelie[/name_f], and [name_f]Coco[/name_f]. Like [name_f]Zara[/name_f] but not Zarabella.

[name_f]Elysia[/name_f] - love it, it’s so pretty, and far better than [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f] (I know too many of those)
Zarabella - not a fan, [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] and [name_f]Zara[/name_f] are much prettier.
[name_u]Michal[/name_u] (Like [name_u]Michael[/name_u], but for a girl, and with no E!?) - erm…no.
[name_f]Eugenie[/name_f] - [name_u]LOVE[/name_u]!
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f] (Rising in popularity, but undoubtedly pretty) - see [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f]!
[name_f]Coco[/name_f] - …nope.

I’ve done 3 work experience placements in schools, these are some of the ones I’ve heard:

[name_f]Neveah[/name_f] (a&e switched from the [name_f]Nevaeh[/name_f]/[name_f]Heaven[/name_f] backwards spelling).
Seranity
Paytynn
Irelynd
Maryline
Sha’uri
Serissa
Quinlyn
Anjilina (Angelina)
[name_f]Laurissa[/name_f] ([name_f]Larissa[/name_f])
[name_f]Emmy[/name_f]-[name_f]Kaylee[/name_f]
[name_f]Calla[/name_f]
Haevan ([name_u]Haven[/name_u])

And the children of the few teen mums I know:

Lowla
Aliyalynn
[name_f]Addisyn[/name_f] [name_f]Cailey[/name_f]

[name_f]Elysia[/name_f] - I’ve just never been a fan of this name.
Zarabella - I think it’s kind of cool. A little too much name for me, but cool regardless.
[name_u]Michal[/name_u]-- Um… No? For a girl? Again, no.
[name_f]Eugenie[/name_f]- Eeeeeek.
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]- Possibly my favorite.
[name_f]Coco[/name_f] - I love it for a five year old, but I doubt this will age well.

[name_f]My[/name_f] mum does daycare and she has a little Kolbe [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_m]Deacon[/name_m] and 2 Xaviers.
[name_f]Elysia[/name_f]: i like this
Zarabella: I prefer [name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_u]Michal[/name_u] (Like [name_u]Michael[/name_u], but for a girl, and with no E!?): Its unusual but still pretty
[name_f]Eugenie[/name_f]: never been a fan of this
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f] (Rising in popularity, but undoubtedly pretty): I prefer [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Coco[/name_f]: I really dislike this it’s so much better as a nickname

I’ll go ahead and post some of the interesting names that I’ve seen working in daycare, since I saw others doing the same
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]/[name_f]Lorelai[/name_f] (2)
Kenlee
[name_m]Josiah[/name_m]

[name_f]Celia[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmalyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_m]Xavier[/name_m]

I love working where I work for many reasons, but seeing all the different names is a really cool perk!

I know a couple of young kids named:

[name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f] ([name_u]LOVE[/name_u] this. She’s four and she suits it so well!)
[name_f]Greta[/name_f]

I like those! Except that I hope that [name_f]Coco[/name_f] is a nickname.
