Kiri?

What do you think of [name]Kiri[/name]? I love this name and its subtle nature connection, but sometimes I wonder if it’s too short and cutesy to be a full first name and better off as a nickname for [name]Kirrily[/name], [name]Kira[/name], [name]Keira[/name], etc.

Oh, and my current combo is [name]Kiri[/name] [name]Seraphina[/name], if anyone was curious

Oh I misread it as Kirl (curl).

I think it’s too cutesy to be a name on it’s own, cute as a nickname though

I used to really like the name [name]Kiri[/name] because of Dame [name]Kiri[/name] Te Kanawa, now I find it too cutesy.

I think it is a cute nickname, but I would definitely use a longer formal name like [name]Kirrily[/name].

The name is okay. It may be a tad too cutesy, but there are much worse possibilities out there running around in the world. I had a friend in early elementary school named [name]Kiri[/name]. She had three older sisters and a brother all with K names. I can’t remember them… Much more ordinary than [name]Kiri[/name] though.

I say go for it.

If [name]Keri[/name] is perfectly acceptable as a given name all on its own, I don’t see why [name]Kiri[/name] would be too cutesy. If you love it, go for it. I personally prefer [name]Keira[/name], though.

I had a student named [name]Kiri[/name] last year ([name]Kiri[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] actually). It fit her to perfection! She was a slightly quirky teen, but in a good way. I totally fell in love with the name. Yes, she had trouble with people mis-spelling and mis-pronouncing it, but once people met her they got it really quickly. It’s awesome!

Thanks for all the responses so far!

I’m glad to see that it works in real life (even if it’s used as a double barreled name). [name]Kiri[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] is lovely!

[name]Love[/name] love love the name [name]Kiri[/name]!

I know a [name]Kiri[/name]. She’s really smart and one of the most beautiful girls I’ve ever met. Its not my style, but I like it. I think I prefer it on its own rather than short for [name]Kirrily[/name].

I know a women name [name]Kiri[/name] and she wears it well, it doesn’t seem too cutesy on her and I would say it isn’t more cutesy than names like [name]Kallie[/name] or [name]Hailey[/name].

I’d prefer something like [name]Keira[/name] or [name]Kiersten[/name] with nn [name]Kiri[/name]. Honestly, [name]Kiri[/name] is cute but it sounds like a name for a parrot.

Not a fan.

I think it is a really cute name, but probably better as a nickname. Depending on the person, it seems like a name that may not transition well to teenage years and adulthood. So having a full name to I guess ‘fall back on’ would be probably be a good idea.

It is a really sweet name with a cutesy sound, so I think that adds to the nicknamey vibe . I adore it, and I think a longer fallback name would be nice. It’s certainly not the worst “nickname name” out there though.

(just read the responses and I am echoing cheele almost exactly)

[name]Kiri[/name] looks like someone forgot the last letter on the male name [name]Kiril[/name].

Thanks for all the responses! I originally liked [name]Kiri[/name] as a nickname for [name]Kirrily[/name] or [name]Kira[/name]/[name]Keira[/name], but I wanted to see what everyone thought of just [name]Kiri[/name] by itself.
