[name]Just[/name] looking for thoughts/first impressions of the name [name]Ksenia[/name]. I think it’s beautiful although obviously unusual. It’s Eastern European. I wonder whether everyone will stumble over it forever or if it’s just something that takes a bit of getting used to. I’m pretty sure when I first saw it I thought “What the heck?! Is that a name?” hahah but now I love it.
It’s pronounced kuh-[name]SEN[/name]-yah (or at least that’s the pronounciation that I would use, there seem to possibly be others)
Hmm. I knew an Eastern European with that name who spelled it in the [name]Roman[/name] alphabet as [name]Xenia[/name]. She would say it [name]Ksenia[/name] (with the ks as one sound, NOT kuh-sen-yah), but would accept [name]Zenia[/name] from people, which is what they usually did (or Gzenia, sort of similar to [name]Xavier[/name] in the beginning).
I like [name]Xenia[/name], but the spelling [name]Ksenia[/name] just throws me off. If you want to pronounce it as you describe I’d almost prefer Kasenia, or something. [name]Kerensa[/name] is a similar sounding Cornish name, also very pretty. There’s also [name]Keziah[/name].
I know 2 Ksenias. [name]One[/name] goes by [name]Kenzie[/name] which surely simplifies things since shes in the US for school, but isn’t nearly as beautiful as her actual name [name]IMO[/name].
@[name]Etoile[/name]'s pronunciation is closest to what I say.
I think it’s a beautiful name. I’ve been a fan of it for awhile now. The spelling [name]Xenia[/name] fits the English pronunciation better, but I originally saw it written as [name]Ksenia[/name] and I like that better.
