L names

Hubby and I are debating- I think sibling names that start with the same letter are cute while he thinks it’s kind of tacky and overdone.

What do you think?

Also, we have a daughter, [name]Lila[/name] [name]Jane[/name], and are debating names that sound good with her name.
Thanks!

It’s cute that way. I like:
[name]Lesley[/name]
[name]Lacey[/name]
[name]Leighton[/name]

Hmm – I wonder if this tide has turned. . . I used to hate and eschew sibs with the same first letter in the name. It seemed to me the ultimate '50s-'60s too cute affection.

Now I’m liking it again! I think it is interesting that people can be on the same wave length about naming trends, that all over the English-speaking world so many people saying at the same moment in time, “[name]Ruby[/name] is cool and contemporary – not dusty or musty at all!”

So back to your decision. I think a couple of ‘le’ daughters could be adorable. I’ve tried to include as many styles as possible.

[name]Lila[/name] [name]Jane[/name] and –
[name]London[/name]
[name]Lawrence[/name]
[name]Larissa[/name]
[name]Lena[/name]
[name]Legend[/name]
[name]Letitia[/name]
[name]Linnaea[/name]
[name]Lyric[/name]
[name]Luna[/name]

I don’t have a problem with siblings names starting with the same letter. My problem is it becomes confusing and tongue-tying when trying to say all of the names or calling them the wrong name because they are more similar than having different letters.

[name]Just[/name] something to think about

I think if you have a hard time narrowing down what names you like, then it might be a good idea. Other than that, I worry you’d be boxed in to picking a name you just find ‘okay’ after the first couple of children.

Also, I know my siblings and I were always mixed up name-wise, even by our own parents, and I imagine it would be even more likely to happen with same initial names. And the tongue twister of saying, “These are my children, [name]Lila[/name], [name]Lincoln[/name], [name]Lucia[/name] and [name]Landon[/name]”. In addition, if you end up with more than one child of the same gender then post for Miss L. Lastname will be very confusing.

On the plus side, handing down school uniform et cetera, you wouldn’t even need to change the name label!

In short, I don’t really think it’s a good idea simply for ease, unless you really only plan to have two children. I think that’s the confusion limit!

Good luck! [name]Auburn[/name]

I assumed this parent only wanted two children with ‘L’ names. But maybe I’m wrong.

Forgot my favoriteL [name]Lydia[/name]

Sorry. [name]Don[/name]'t know what went wrong with this post. Must have been late!

I’ve always liked that same first letter for siblings, but then again i like alliteration in names too. I think repeating first letters can be very nice as long as your careful how you do it. For example varying the first vowel, number of syllables, and making sure endings don’t rhyme.
As in: [name]Lola[/name], [name]Lily[/name], and [name]Luna[/name] make for a gimmicky and tacky set
But: [name]Lorelei[/name], [name]Lucy[/name], and [name]Lydia[/name] make a themed, but not gimmicky set

Thanks guys! We really are just going to have 2 children, so hopefully them both having L names won’t be too confusing.
Thank you all for your ideas!
For a girl, [name]Lydia[/name] is definitely my favorite.

I grew up in a family where every girl was an “L”. I swore I would not do that to my kids because I was usually called every other name but my own! However, I still do that and none of my kids have the same letter!!
Here are some from my family and other faves (**):
Me/ [name]Lesley[/name]
[name]Linda[/name]
[name]Lori[/name]
[name]Lauren[/name]
[name]Lindsay[/name]
[name]Logan[/name] (girl)
[name]Lorraine[/name]
[name]Liv[/name] **
[name]Liza[/name] **
[name]Lidia[/name] **
[name]Lena[/name] **
So many good ones!
p.s I personally think it is more grating on the ears when the endings are the same. Something I did with 2 girls ending in “ee”. Good luck!

I think it’s cute, the only problem is that it seriously limits your name choices. Another option is to have them all end in same sound or letter.
