LA or AL

[name_m]Ive[/name_m] been thinking alot about my top girls name, [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f].
I was thinking about switching it, so I could fully honor my great grandmother, [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. (and my mom, [name_f]Lori[/name_f])

I understand [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] flows better. But how often would she use her middle name?
And apparently [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] is so dated. And a [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] will inevitably be called [name_f]Lori[/name_f] or [name_u]Lorrie[/name_u].

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] (no nickname - I hate the nickname [name_u]Ali[/name_u]) or [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] (called [name_f]Raine[/name_f] - maybe [name_f]Lori[/name_f])

I can’t choose, I love both. But something feels more right about having [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] as a first name.

If [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] feels like the better option of the two for you then it is. They both sound nice.

Personally, I’d use [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] as it seems [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] will inevitably become [name_f]Lorri[/name_f]/[name_f]Lori[/name_f] and for me a lorry is a large cargo truck. It’s the association that is a problem for me.

If you like both but it feels a little bit more natural for you to go with [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] as a first name, then go for it
It will be ultimately what she’ll be using on a daily basis, whereas her middle name is more of a flourish or sentimental value.

I think [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] is very pretty and it doesn’t feel that dated to me (even if I have a softer spot for [name_f]Lauren[/name_f]). Does it bother you if her friends shorten it to [name_f]Lorri[/name_f]?

No, that was, if she gets called [name_f]Lori[/name_f]/[name_f]Lorri[/name_f], my mothers being honored.

[name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] would be a great name to honour both your mother and great grandmother. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] sounds nice too.

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f]!

I think either way it is a lovely name. I don’t find [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] dated, not anymore than other revival names like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] or [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]. I think it’s really pretty and have been considering it as a middle name option.

I think [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] flows better, but I love both names  [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] feels quite sweet actually, and if you wanted a different nn, you could call her [name_f]Lainie[/name_f]/[name_u]Laine[/name_u]. I know one [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] who is about 18 and goes by [name_f]Lora[/name_f]. I don’t think it’s dated, but then again, I’m not a fan of that term - names don’t have expiry dates.

I prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f].

If you are leaning towards [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f], I would say to go with it. I was honestly just thinking yesterday that [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] is due for a comeback, as it’s pretty and hasn’t been in heavy use for a while. [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] for me will always be [name_f]Lea[/name_f] [name_m]Thompson[/name_m] in Back To The [name_u]Future[/name_u], but that’s a good association.

I like [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. [name_f]Raine[/name_f] is a cute nn.
