I prefer [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] because it’s traditional, and because the [name_m]Loch[/name_m] bit of [name_m]Lochlan[/name_m] looks too much like Scottish lakes (i.e., [name_m]Loch[/name_m] Ness).
I love [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m]/[name_m]Lochlan[/name_m]! I slightly prefer the phonetic spelling of [name_m]Lochlan[/name_m], but a difficult decision.
I prefer [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] for the same reasons as Saracita. It is also the spelling I’m more familiar with and if I heard the name out loud I would spell it as [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m].
I adore [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m], it is special to us. I much prefer the [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] spelling.
Either is fine, but I love nickname [name_m]Loch[/name_m] so I prefer the latter slightly.
[name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] is Scottish and [name_m]Lochlan[/name_m] is Irish (although it’s usually spelled with two n’s - [name_m]Lochlainn[/name_m] or [name_m]Lochlann[/name_m]). I would go with [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] because it’s more familiar.
I prefer the look of [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m], it’s a gorgeous choice.
I usually like the spelling [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m], but as @lesliemarion I also love the nickname [name_m]Loch[/name_m]/[name_m]Lock[/name_m]. So I vote [name_m]Lochlan[/name_m].
Thank you so much for your help, Berries! Not sure if we are closer to deciding or even if it is “the one” name if we have a boy BUT I can’t help but fall a little deeper in love with the name after reading your comments. We still have [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and [name_u]Logan[/name_u] kicking around as contenders (but not quite as seriously) so we’ll see as the time draws nearer.
…if only girls names were as easy! We are struggling with finding a girls name we love a lot more. Thank goodness for Nameberry! <3
I love the name [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] and prefer this spelling Good luck on your name hunt
[name_m]Lochlan[/name_m] reminds me of the lochness monster and I would actually have thought it was pronounced as loch-lan! However, since I’m aware of the actual pronounciation of [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m], I much prefer its traditional spelling.
I like the look of [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] better for some reason, but both are great names.
I prefer [name_m]Lochlan[/name_m]. It’s almost equally used and not a made-up spelling, more phonetic (most importantly), and to me, more masculine and strong. But [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] isn’t bad.
I prefer [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m]. [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] is a popular name in my country and I’ve only ever seen it spelt this way.
I love the name [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m]! I like it spelled both ways, honestly, and go back and forth with how I spell it. [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] is more traditional, so if I had to choose I guess I’d go with that. =]
Isn’t that fine, though, since that’s the actual meaning of the name?
I think I prefer [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] because it’s more familiar to me, but both are traditional spellings ([name_m]Lochlan[/name_m] is just Irish) so I’d say go with the easier version if you think it will save you headaches!
