Saw this name on a list on behind the name. I love it, though I’m not sure how it’s pronounced, I love the look of it. I’m pronouncing it [name_m]Ly[/name_m]-[name_f]Ell[/name_f], like [name_u]Lyle[/name_u]. I don’t like the look of [name_u]Lyle[/name_u].
[name_m]How[/name_m] would you pronounce it?
What are your opinions?
Well, I from [name_m]Brasil[/name_m] so I would pronounce as LAH - [name_f]EL[/name_f], rather than [name_u]Lyle[/name_u].
[name_m]Till[/name_m] now, I had never heard of it before, but it’s a pretty name. Not very remarkable through.
Laëlle is a feminine name
Laël is masculine
But I know you guys do not use “ë” (it’s just like an accent, but we don’t put on accent between a vowel and a L. So -aël or -oël endings for example).
It has to be said Lah-elle. It’s hebrew and means dedicated to God.
I appreciate the additional information about the name. I know it is a masculine Hebrew name and chose it for it’s meaning. We have very few names on the list that would cross genders… My husband is Spanish and specifically didn’t want to pronounce it with the Lah, to avoid his family thinking we named her “she-he”. Let’s remember many berries chose to pronounce certain names differently than others…
I really like it and I agree [name_u]Lyle[/name_u] isnt the prettiest spelling, however I think it would be confusing for school and doctor’s etc as it looks like (to me at least) it should be pronounced [name_m]Lay[/name_m]-elle.
I like it, but wouldn’t think “[name_u]Lyle[/name_u]” at first, or even second guess. I have a friend from another forum who named her daughter this (pronounced [name_m]Lay[/name_m]-elle, I believe), but fwiw, I always assumed the baby was a boy until I realized otherwise!
Of course you can absolutely choose to name your child [name_m]Lael[/name_m] and pronounce it [name_u]Lyle[/name_u], I just wouldn’t expect anyone to ever pronounce or spell it correctly with out clarification. It complicates things that [name_u]Lyle[/name_u] is already a well known and recognizable name - I don’t think it’d be a big deal if it was an unfamiliar name/sound altogether.
