When I was naming my son [name]Rio[/name] and [name]River[/name] were on my list. I [name]LOVE[/name] nature names. We ended up naming my son Mir” so [name]Rio[/name] is out. So we are now looking for more nature names. [name]Lago[/name] pronounced (Lah GO) I love but does it look too much like Lego? I see [name]Lago[/name] as a more masculine alternative to [name]Indigo[/name]. What do you think? THANX
I see Lego too, but it’s not a horrible word or anything, and a lot of names resemble words eg [name]Violet[/name] and Violent yet [name]Violet[/name], to me, is a fabulous name
I think [name]Lago[/name] works well (it isn’t really hard for me to pronounce it, either). It’s association with nature works well with [name]Lila[/name], [name]Aveline[/name], and Lightning ([name]Zinnia[/name], [name]Ocean[/name], [name]Paloma[/name], [name]Clementine[/name], [name]Delphine[/name]/[name]Delfina[/name], [name]Mariposa[/name], [name]Marisol[/name], [name]Iris[/name], and Esm” when the meaning is “emerald”, too!). I didn’t really think of Lego, but when I searched it on Google, the first thing that came up was “[name]Scotty[/name] [name]Lago[/name]” and then “See results for: lego”. Maybe it’s too similar since [name]Lila[/name] starts with “L” and Mir” ends in “o”, though…
Another thought: I think [name]Rio[/name] could work well as a nickname for Mir”. A stretch, yes, but Mir” contains all of the letters in [name]Rio[/name]!
[name]Rio[/name] could def be a nn for Mir” but we really like saying Mir” so we wouldnt use a nn. Let me check out who this scotty lago is. I still have [name]River[/name] on our list but if we use it then my spanish speaking family will call him [name]Rio[/name] which is just too close to Mir”. I see what you are saying about two L starting names but it really doesnt bother me as long as the names arent too similar in sound. Thank you your post was helpful as always.
on a side note what do you think [name]Claudia[/name] schiffer will name her daughter? I think she is a name fanatic. She already has a [name]Clementine[/name] and caspar.

I love saying Mir”'s name, too! [name]Rio[/name] could be a nickname for Mir”, but both are only two syllables, so it doesn’t really shorten the name. I don’t think [name]Lila[/name] and [name]Lago[/name] are too similar in sound, either. Actually, since [name]Lila[/name], Mir”, and [name]Lago[/name] will all be two syllables and four letters, I think it would work.
I was wondering what [name]Claudia[/name] Schiffer would call her daughter, too! [name]Clementine[/name] and [name]Caspar[/name] are great! Since they all start with a hard “C” and are out of the Top 1000, maybe…
ooh [name]Cordelia[/name] is a very good prediction. I am almost positive that she will go with another C. I am going to say [name]Cameo[/name] but i think she may go for [name]Camellia[/name] as its a traditional british name.
I figured that much! my name is meryl like [name]Meryl[/name] streep and i get called Murel and [name]Marilyn[/name]. My daughter is lila (leela) and she gets called [name]Lyla[/name], [name]Lilly[/name] and [name]Laila[/name]. my son is Mir” (mee dow) and he gets called Myro, miles and Mehrow. So i think i am carrying on a family curse!! lol
Yes [name]Lago[/name] is lake in spanish. I love nature names and my other children have spanish names.[/quote]
It’s also [name]Lake[/name] in Italian.
I thought I remembered it meaning lake from Spanish class in high school. I didn’t know it was also lake in Italian. I like it, I’ll have to see if my husband will consider it for a middle name I think you should use it.
Thanks salorgirl! I am glad you like it. I think men like O ending names at least my partner likes it. We are still just TTC although not that much trying since my mother in law is staying over for a week so its been a little bit of a mood killer

I love [name]Lago[/name] and had it on a list for my daughter (and cat…) so I don’t see “lego” at all (although folks made that comment to me too) and I think it is very easy and instinctual to pronounce.
[name]Cecily[/name], Were you shocked w the name [name]Cosima[/name]? [name]Cosima[/name] is super cute but to me its 100% italian while [name]Clementine[/name] and [name]Caspar[/name] are stuffy english (in a good way). I feel like [name]Cleo[/name] or colette would have worked better.
