The name me and my husband want for future boy is Laith (we were debating the Layth spelling but agreed that it came across as a woman’s name to people here!) while Zain is in second place -I’m not a fan of Zain, but my husband wants it as a backup name. We’re not sure about middle names, he wants something classic or very common and I want something that’s neither ultra common or too out there.
His last name is Hussain which will be our son’s last name too, and he wants Ahmed as a middle name as an honour name, but for a middle name I’m thinking of:
Armaan/Arman (the only persian boys name on the list)
Malik
Hakim
Haider ((though that means the same thing as Laith in arabic, is that an issue?)
But i’m honestly struggling to pick a fav middle name, or if two middle names (Ahmed and then whatever name from my list, or vice versa with the honour name after the other middle name, i’m unsure of what order we’d pick) but i’m not sure if that would be too stufy.
Im also wondering if Laith would seem unfitting for a British pakistani boy (both me and my husband are Pakistani) as i feel like it sounds western despite it being arabic. Ive seen a lot of zain’s and zaid’s as names that arent too religious sounding like muhammad but are common for our background, but not so much Laith. Again, i dont want something too out there LOL so any input on if you’ve met any Laith’s who were Pakistani or of any muslim background is appreciated
[name_m]Laith[/name_m] is a great choice - the only one I’ve met (spelled Layth) was of Muslim background.
[name_m]Laith[/name_m] [name_m]Arman[/name_m], [name_m]Laith[/name_m] [name_m]Malik[/name_m] and [name_m]Laith[/name_m] [name_m]Hakim[/name_m] are great! I do like [name_m]Haider[/name_m] but the matching meaning would bother me slightly.
I think you could do two middles - [name_m]Laith[/name_m] [name_m]Ahmed[/name_m] [name_m]Arman[/name_m], [name_m]Laith[/name_m] [name_m]Malik[/name_m] [name_m]Ahmed[/name_m], and [name_m]Laith[/name_m] [name_m]Ahmed[/name_m] [name_m]Hakim[/name_m] all work - and I do think [name_m]Laith[/name_m] [name_m]Ahmed[/name_m] [name_m]Haider[/name_m] could work, so the same meanings aren’t next to each other?
[name_m]Laith[/name_m] [name_m]Arman[/name_m] is my fave I think
Laith is such a handsome name! I wouldn’t say it “sounds Western” – I wouldn’t be at all surprised to hear that it comes from Arabic! I think it’s fun that you’re going for something that still honours your background, but is a bit more unexpected and not as commonly heard! I don’t see that as a bad thing at all. I really like Laith Arman & Laith Hakim as combinations.
[name_m]Laith[/name_m] is such a cool-sounding name! I must admit I was surprised when I first found out it has Arabic roots, as I was more familiar with it as a Scottish name, however I don’t think that should put you off. I’ve never met a [name_m]Laith[/name_m] but have known lots of Zains, so I think going for the more unexpected option would be nice!
[name_m]Laith[/name_m] Armaan/Arman and [name_m]Laith[/name_m] [name_m]Hakim[/name_m] are my favourites of your options, but I think [name_m]Laith[/name_m] [name_m]Ahmed[/name_m] [name_m]Hakim[/name_m] has a nice ring to it as well.
From doing some research [name_m]Laith[/name_m] seems to be pretty common in the Arab world (a Google search brings up lots of men named [name_m]Laith[/name_m] from Arabic-speaking countries), but it seems to be less common in Pakistan. (I’m not Pakistani, so I can’t comment on the reason why this might be the case.)
I think it’s a good name! I like the meaning and it doesn’t sound overly “Western” or religious, if that’s a concern.
Yep, it doesnt seem like a name very popular with Pakistanis but my thinking is that hopefully we can get away with it since both of our families exclusively use Arabic names. I also found another name (Haider/Haydar) today that I think is nice but dont like as much, but it still has a similar meaning and is more common for Pakistanis. [name_f]Glad[/name_f] to know that [name_m]Laith[/name_m] sounds neither religious or western too!
I think i like [name_m]Laith[/name_m] [name_m]Ahmed[/name_m] [name_m]Arman[/name_m] [name_m]Hussain[/name_m] as a full name too, good to know that it doesnt seem too stuffy
