What’s your view on Lakelyn (Pronounced [name_u]Lake[/name_u]-[name_u]Lynn[/name_u])?
I don’t know if Lakelyn is a real name or not! However when I was with my best friend a little while ago we were talking about girls names that started with the letter “L” and after I had mentioned a few I was stuck I couldn’t think of anymore so then I just shouted out Lakelyn my best friend thought I made that up on the spot and thought Lakelyn sounded like a pretty cool name.
So I have no idea who made it up! Was it me or someone else?
I thought it sounded like a pretty cool name myself though.
Lakelyn is invented in the sense that it has no etymological history, though I dare say you aren’t the first to use it. “[name_u]Lyn[/name_u]” is a popular stick-on for invented names. Personally, I’m not a fan. It sounds too much like the boys’ name [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m].
Not a fan. Whether it’s made-up or not, it certainly sounds made up and doesn’t sound or look like a name that I’d find attractive. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]Laken[/name_u]?
Mixed feelings on Lakelyn. I’m a little over adding -lyn to any random name willy-nilly, but I must say it does roll off the tongue nicely and is prettier than [name_u]Laken[/name_u] (which I like better for a boy anyway). What about just [name_u]Lake[/name_u]?
Not a fan of this name at all. I agree with a PP, that it definitely feels like something invented. Also, I live near a place called [name_m]Lakeland[/name_m], which this name immediately reminded me of, and that is not such a great place. I think it’s incredibly trendy (in the vein of [name_u]Brayden[/name_u], [name_u]Aiden[/name_u], [name_u]Jaden[/name_u], and the like) and will not age well or stand the test of time.
I used to love [name_u]Laken[/name_u] for a boy, a long, long time ago. However, it’s pretty trendy sounding so would never use it. Lakelyn is awful though - the whole [name_u]Lyn[/name_u] ending is so dated and tacky. [name_u]Lake[/name_u] is a sweet name though and would well as a name for a boy or girl, for example, [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] or [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u].
I googled it anyway just out of curiosity! I knew from the start I, myself didn’t make it up. But before I heard it came out of my mouth I had never heard of the name and neither had my best friend.
I’ve seen the name Lakelyn popping up a lot lately on the internet and in real life and I’m honestly not a fan of it at all. My main problem with it is that the ending “lyn” literally means “lake” so the name Lakelyn would mean “lake lake”? Meanings like that often remind me of the internet meme “moon moon”. That and its very trendy right now to tack a -lyn onto random one syllable words and names and I’m just tired of it.
My name is Lakelyn! I love my name and I’ve never heard a negative comment about it until I saw this post. I am 34 years old now, I still never met another Lakelyn. Go for it!
