Lala

Another name, [name_f]Lala[/name_f] I love this name I think it’s unique. But what middle names would go with it? How would it it age? I know a lot of people will say use it as a nickname… but I like [name_f]Lala[/name_f] I come from a Spanish background. Please let me know you’re thoughts  let’s forget about the teletubies aswell as I feel the next generation of kids will not know of such a great show.

Ok so in theory I like it. But it just is so strongly associated with the teletubbies for me that I can’t look past that.

Edit: I can’t believe I just posted this response, opened Instagram and saw this

I do think of Telletubbies but I think I could get over it.

Lala is way too cutesy for an official name. Sounds like a word you say to fill in for nonsense. The expression la-la land makes this a strong no for me.

I really don’t like it as a name (or even a nickname, to be honest). It sounds silly and childish to me - I think because it reminds of how people stick their fingers in their ears and go “la la la” when they don’t want to listen to you. Perhaps a small child could get away with it as cutesy, but I don’t think it is suitable for an adult at all.

I want to like it, but I just can’t see it working on an adult.

I have a Latin background, too, and I know someone named [name_f]Lala[/name_f] (nickname for [name_f]Lolita[/name_f]). I wouldn’t use it personally because it’s too sing-songy and doesn’t feel significant enough for a human being that will need to put it on identification and everything. It’s more of a pet name than the pet names that are sometimes used for names (like [name_f]Honey[/name_f]). I nearly forgot about the Teletubbies, so thanks for reminding about them. But yeah, that’s another strike against [name_f]Lala[/name_f] for me.

I go to high school with a [name_f]Lala[/name_f]! I’ve never questioned it, probably because she wears it well. She is a very serious person, too. I think it works – it reminds me of [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_f]Layla[/name_f], etc.

Maybe…

This does not feel like something to put on a birth certificate

I dig it, and Teletubbies ruled so I have no problem with the association. And again its a normal name in Spanish communities so I don’t see anything wrong with it.

I think [name_f]Lala[/name_f]’s a bit too cutesy for a full name, and it’s very sing songy. The first think that comes to mind is La-La land, and then lalaloopsy, and I can’t get those associations aside. It also doesn’t feel like a full name.

100% this. This name would not age well at all, and I could never picture it on an adult.

just adding because nobody else has said it - i think people would also think of [name_f]Lala[/name_f] from Vanderpump Rules, who is not a very good namesake.
