So this time i ask you to inspire me with some Names that mean “lamb” or remind you of lambs or just have somehow something to do with lambs.
Anything will do.
Thanks!

[name]Una[/name]
[name]Rachel[/name]
[name]Agnes[/name]
[name]Nessa[/name] means lamb
Here are two words meaning “lamb” that can be used nicely as feminine names:
Shafida (Esperanto, phonetic spelling)
Karitsa (Finnish)
– [name]Nephele[/name]
My first thought was [name]Dolly[/name] (the sheep…) but prob not what you’re looking for!
2nd thought, [name]Mary[/name] (has a little lamb). Okay prob not what you’re looking for either, but those two were my first thoughts!
Thank you all!
I really like [name]Una[/name]…and [name]Mary[/name] (but i always loved [name]Mary[/name] )
I think Nepheles idea is very nice and so i collected a few more words meaning lamb in different languages.
Maybe a few of you are interested:
Hammal (Arabic)
Lam (Danish)
Agneau (French)
Janje (Croatian)
Barany (Hungarian)
Agnello (Italian)
Hemel, Berx (Kurdish, found both, don’t know wich one is right)
[name]Agnus[/name], [name]Agni[/name] (Latin)
Jagne (Macedonian)
Cordeiro (male), Anho (little lamb), Ovelha (female) (Portuguese)
Lamm (Swedish)
[name]Cordero[/name] (Spanish)
Mwanakondoo (Swahili)
Kuzu (Turkish)
I think Agnello would make a really sweet boyname!
And let’s not forget the possibility of meaningful names derived from anagrams:
“I be a lamb” = [name]Bambi[/name] [name]Lea[/name]
– [name]Nephele[/name]
Not sure if you are looking for male or female names but a Greek male name is Lambrianos (my Dad’s name) He is called Lambros as a short version, and my nephew who is named after him is called Lambis.
Helpful I hope!

Yes, but none of those names literally mean “lamb.” In Greek, then refer to “brightness, radiance.” Figuratively, however, they can refer to “lamb” as in [name]Christ[/name], “the lamb of god.” Because those names are often given in association with [name]Easter[/name] (“the bright day”) in modern, [name]Christian[/name] Greek culture.
– [name]Nephele[/name]
[name]Rachel[/name] means “little lamb” or “ewe”… and I [name]LOVE[/name] the name - so beautiful and it belongs to my daughter:-)
I suppose any variation of [name]Rachel[/name] or [name]Agnes[/name] would also work:
[name]Agnes[/name] variations:
Agnieszka (Polish)
Aune (Finnish)
[name]Oanez[/name] ([name]Breton[/name])
[name]Ines[/name]/[name]Inez[/name]
Janja (Crotian)
[name]Nesta[/name] (Welsh)
[name]Rachel[/name] variations:
Rahala (Romanian)
[name]Raquel[/name]
