[name_f]Lana[/name_f] would be nn I thought of for [name_f]Alannah[/name_f].
What about [name_f]Ani[/name_f], pronounced ON-ee?
I like [name_f]Lana[/name_f] As for [name_f]Ani[/name_f], I think too many people would assume it’s [name_f]Annie[/name_f] and spell it that way. I’m trying to for something easily recognizable and easy to spell, considering [name_u]Haley[/name_u]'s never been one that people spell correctly.
Hmm. You could probably get away with [name_f]Lea[/name_f]/[name_f]Leah[/name_f], if you like it? The lee sound in [name_u]Haley[/name_u] plus the a sound of your mn…
I do really love [name_f]Leah[/name_f]
I have a good friend named [name_f]Alana[/name_f] and I haven’t heard anyone insist on shortening it. I say pick the name/nickname you’d like to be called and be consistent in introducing yourself that way and it will catch on. If you like [name_f]Leah[/name_f] than go for it; if allannah than sick to the long version. As someone who has tried to shake a nickname, I have found that the key is to be consistent with what you want people to call you. Good luck!
[name_f]Lola[/name_f] is a great name to me, and it can work as a nn for [name_f]Alannah[/name_f].
My favourite nickname for [name_f]Alannah[/name_f] would be [name_f]Lana[/name_f], it’s simple and easy to get from [name_f]Alannah[/name_f]
I like [name_f]Lola[/name_f]…
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you feel like one of these suits your personality over the others? I like all four options. I think Alo would be adorable, too (I know of a celebrity who has an [name_f]Alondra[/name_f] whose nn is Alo, which I think is adorable!), and [name_f]Lannah[/name_f] (LAH-nah).
Good luck!
I actually have always loved [name_f]Lola[/name_f], but, I think that’s a name that should belong to a confident girl with a lot of sex appeal (ie; not me), so I think that one’s out. As far as suiting my personality, I think [name_f]Lana[/name_f] or [name_f]Lani[/name_f]/[name_u]Lanie[/name_u] would be the best [name_f]Lani[/name_f]/[name_u]Lanie[/name_u] sort of combines sounds from both my names, but I think [name_f]Lana[/name_f] might be a bit more appropriate for an 18 year old college student.
To a certain extent I’m not sure you can engineer your own nickname. You can refuse to answer to ones you dislike, but saying “[name_m]Hi[/name_m], I’m [name_u]Haley[/name_u] [name_f]Alannah[/name_f] and I go by [name_f]Lola[/name_f]” feels contrived, especially because [name_f]Lola[/name_f] is a bit of a stretch. I think the nicknames you’re looking at now are much more natural. In fact, I’d just say “[name_m]Hi[/name_m], I’m [name_f]Alannah[/name_f]” and see what happens. Chances are the fact that [name_f]Alannah[/name_f]'s your middle name will come up at some point, but it wouldn’t be a big deal.
[name_f]Lana[/name_f] and [name_u]Allie[/name_u] and Als come naturally to me, so if you occasionally signed emails with [name_f]Lana[/name_f] I’d probably end up saying that as often as [name_f]Alannah[/name_f].
I know Als sounds a bit odd, but two of my roommates ended up with -s casual nicknames in our group, as in “Hey Hills, pass the ketchup” or “Abs, I’m making a Target run.” And [name_u]Abby[/name_u] had a short nickname anyway!
I definitely think [name_f]Lana[/name_f] is more me. I probably look more like an [name_u]Allie[/name_u], but I’m so sick of hearing it (I went to school with 4, an [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], an [name_f]Alison[/name_f], an [name_u]Alexis[/name_u] and I’m not sure what [name_u]Allie[/name_u]/[name_f]Ally[/name_f] #4’s name was…all we heard was [name_u]Allie[/name_u]/[name_f]Ally[/name_f]!), that I don’t think I’d ever enjoy being one! My parents and friends who I’ve known for quite a while have all said they’re more comfortable calling me [name_u]Haley[/name_u], and that doesn’t bother me, but for the new school, I’d like to make an attempt at using my middle name. I think I’d probably introduce myself as [name_u]Haley[/name_u] [name_f]Alannah[/name_f], but explain that I prefer my middle name and go by that. If [name_f]Alannah[/name_f] catches on and I feel it suits me best, I’ll continue to use it, if not, I’ll stay as [name_u]Haley[/name_u].
Thank you for the insight though, and, you raise an excellent point, as much as I like [name_f]Lola[/name_f], it just doesn’t seem like it can logically come from my name!
[name_f]Lana[/name_f] is the best nickname and I like it a lot. Second choice would be [name_u]Allie[/name_u]
By the way, what would you like us to call you on here? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer [name_f]Alannah[/name_f], [name_f]Lana[/name_f], or [name_u]Haley[/name_u]?
It doesn’t really bother me Whichever name you’d prefer to use, I’m not asking people I’ve already introduced myself as [name_u]Haley[/name_u] to change what they call me, just from now on, (well, starting on 17th [name_f]September[/name_f]), in school, I’m going to be known as [name_f]Alannah[/name_f]/[name_f]Lana[/name_f]
I definitely think I’m more of a [name_f]Lana[/name_f]
[name_f]Lana[/name_f] is my favorite.
