Thoughts on [name_f]Larissa[/name_f]? I’m seeing how I feel about the name. Thank you!
I actually know a woman called this, she must be in her late seventies now. I think [name_f]Larissa[/name_f] is quite unexpected and very usable. I also like the nickname [name_f]Lara[/name_f].
Thank you! It has many nickname options that I like. I also like that it’s uncommon, but still familiar. My dh said it’s pretty, but he still prefers [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Larissa[/name_f]! It’s frilly but not overly so, clear sharp yet delicate
i’ve never heard this before, but now I love it! I love the nn [name_f]Lara[/name_f] as well. Thank you
Thank you! I think it’s so pretty ”
I love it! It’s so whimsical and pretty. It’s also a great alternative to [name_f]Melissa[/name_f].
You can use [name_f]Rissa[/name_f] and [name_f]Lissa[/name_f] for nicknames if [name_f]Lara[/name_f] doesn’t feel right. So pretty ”
My favorite name is [name_f]Melina[/name_f], but we can’t use it. [name_f]Larissa[/name_f] is so pretty ”.
Very pretty! I have known two teens with the names and it worked well. I don’t think it is tied to a particular time period in the way that some similar names are. It has a versatile, cosmopolitan feel.
This is my mother’s name so naturally I perceive it a bit differently to others. The main association I have with this name is its Russian origin. However, as others have pointed out, it remains very recognisable due to the anglicised spelling being so similar to other more mainstream names like [name_f]Melissa[/name_f], [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f], [name_f]Clarissa[/name_f] and [name_f]Marissa[/name_f]. It’s uncommon, but approachable.
It’s sweet and frilly. Perhaps a little dated but definitely something I’d be excited to see on a little one today.
Thank you! I think it’s so pretty. It sounds good with her sisters names and our last name.
I like this name and spelling due to its Greek Mythology roots. Their was a nymph by this name and a town in [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] called [name_f]Larissa[/name_f].
I’ve never thought much of the name [name_f]Larissa[/name_f], but I love it, especially with nickname [name_f]Lara[/name_f] (as mentioned by a previous poster)!
I think it’s beautiful! Familiar but unusual. I like it much better than [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f].
I really like the name [name_f]Larissa[/name_f]! I never understood why it isn’t chosen more. I mean it’s mythological, it’s in literature (dr zhivago novel) and used in many cultures. To me though it always has a happy conative, as I was told it meant laughter in Russian(?).
