My newest name obsession for a little sister to [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_u]Jules[/name_u] is [name_f]Lark[/name_f]. A nature name (the bird that sings at dawn) with strong ties to my love of birds and my husband’s love of early mornings/nature. Choosing a middle name with meaning and/or family relations is my mission so since I remembered my grandmothers middle name was [name_f]Eva[/name_f] I’ve been asking myself if the names together have the right flow. I’d love your candid opinions!
Our last name is three syllables similar to Tedorvich.
To be honest, I think [name_f]Lark[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f] run together too much. It ends up sounding like ‘Larkeeva’, if you see what I mean.
I’d choose a name that didn’t start with a vowel for the middle.
I love [name_f]Lark[/name_f] and think [name_f]Eva[/name_f] works well as a middle name. [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and. [name_f]Lark[/name_f] are a great sibset.
I adore it but I am a huge hunger games fan so to me it sounds like a reference to two of my favourite characters Peeta Mellark & [name_f]Katniss[/name_f] Everdeen…collectively ‘Everlark’ That’s probably just me though
I think given that [name_f]Lark[/name_f] is monosyllabic, and [name_f]Eva[/name_f] – though two syllables – is also quite short and quickly expressed, the name seems too blunt as a combo. I think that monosyllabic first names are a bit difficult to match with a mn if you want good flow too.
Is there another perhaps longer name from your family you would consider?
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] incorporates [name_f]Eva[/name_f] but gives the name a little more finesse. Might not be what you’re going for but provides an example for what might create better flow. [name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]…
I agree with aym that [name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Eva[/name_f] is too blunt together, sounds very choppy. But [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Lark[/name_f] sounds much better.
I agree that [name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Eva[/name_f] is quite choppy and I like the suggestion of [name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f].
Other options could be:
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Evelina[/name_f]
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] Evanora
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
I also thought “Larkeeva”. The flow is not great.
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is a wonderful suggestion.
It reminds me of a super hero’s name.
Same thing happens with [name_u]Kim[/name_u] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u].
Like [name_m]Clark[/name_m] [name_m]Kent[/name_m].
But that might just be me.
I don’t think it’s a bad thing, though.
I think it flows.
What pronunciation are you using ay-va or ee-va?
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Lark[/name_f] are lovely together, but [name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Eva[/name_f] just doesn’t seem to flow right. I think [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Lark[/name_f] flows better but I don’t like [name_f]Eva[/name_f] with [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. For me [name_f]Lark[/name_f] needs a longer middle name. What about [name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Evanthe[/name_f]?
Thank you Berries! If I’m staying true to my grandmother’s name it would be pronounced Ee-vah. [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is very pretty, I’ll see if the husband would be on board. Any other [name_f]Eva[/name_f] type names anyone can think of? Fabulous suggestions and thank you for your help!
P.S. The Hunger Games connection is hilarious!
You need a longer middle name. What about [name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] or [name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Eveline[/name_f]? I’ve seen [name_f]Evaline[/name_f] too. Maybe [name_f]Evadne[/name_f]?
Yeah I think it runs a little too much together…[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f] are cute…I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]Lark[/name_f] I would pick a longer name…[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]?
It doesn’t quite have the right flow but both names are lovely.
