Got any last minute suggestions for our baby girl, due in a couple weeks?
Currently have

Je.sse Nic.olai
Cla.udia [name_m]Jos[/name_m]. ephine
My husband won’t go for anything gender neutral. I’m looking for something more “out there” while still being an established name. Intrigued by the idea of a word name, particularly a flower? [name_m]Not[/name_m] a requirement. While looking at our list, it seems like we prefer some strong consonants in the name, as opposed to really liquid names. I like a formal name and don’t mind a nickname, but would steer clear of it if a nickname was an inevitability (ex: [name_m]Charles[/name_m] >> Charlie).
I feel like I’ve seen every name at this point, so if you want to make a case for your favorites, it’d be most welcome! Thank you!

I suggest [name_f]Briony[/name_f]. [name_m]The[/name_m] name of a flowering plant and an unusual but established girl name. [name_m]Strong[/name_m] consonants, but still pretty. [name_f]She[/name_f] COULD be [name_f]Bri[/name_f], but I don’t think it’s inevitable.

Some combos I like that I think would go with her siblings’ names are:
[name_f]Briony[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Briony[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Briony[/name_f] [name_f]Philippa[/name_f]

[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
[name_f]Primrose[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
I also want to second [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]! [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] especially seems to fit - floral, rare but established as a name, and consonant-heavy. Plus it has cute nicknames like [name_f]Mari[/name_f] and [name_f]Goldie[/name_f], but I don’t think either are inevitable.

[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] was my first thought to fit the criteria too!
I think [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] would be lovely with the sibling names as well.
For unusual floral names, maybe [name_f]Acantha[/name_f], [name_f]Betony[/name_f], [name_f]Iolanthe[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], [name_f]Fenella[/name_f], [name_f]Daylily[/name_f], [name_f]Olivet[/name_f], [name_f]Marjolaine[/name_f].

would you like [name_f]Iris[/name_f]?
Seems floral, unique but known and not out there, formal no nickname needed. Simple and elegant!

[name_f]Florence[/name_f] / [name_f]Flora[/name_f] would be gorgeous with your childrens names. Or maybe [name_f]Fern[/name_f]?

I love the suggestion of [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] too, and maybe with a hard C middle name to tie it in with the Cathe.rine and Cla.udia of her sisters’ names.
E.g. [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_f]Cosette[/name_f]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_f]Clemence[/name_f]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
A couple other beautiful floral names that I don’t think have been mentioned:
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilac[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]
[name_f]Clover[/name_f] could also be nice as a whimsical, floral middle with an elegant, established first name like your other daughters have.
E.g.
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Clover[/name_f]
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f] [name_f]Clover[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Clover[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Clover[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Clover[/name_f]
[name_f]Millicent[/name_f] [name_f]Clover[/name_f]
[name_f]Verity[/name_f] [name_f]Clover[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f], and would be a top choice, but do you think it’s too close to [name_f]Claudia[/name_f]? That’s making me hesitant!

I love [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] on paper, but worried about pronunciation. I say “ZEEN-ya” but it seems most say “ZINN-ee-a.” And then with that pronunciation, is it too close to [name_f]Claudia[/name_f]? Sharing the same ending. [name_f]Any[/name_f] opinions welcome!

I’ve been considering Julia/Juliana, but I’m worried with [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] + [name_m]Augustine[/name_m], it reads too [name_m]Roman[/name_m] empire-y. Do you think the average person would notice? Or is it just me?

Also again with the endings- are [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] and [name_f]Julia[/name_f] too similar?

I think a lot of people might not associate [name_f]Julia[/name_f] with ancient [name_m]Rome[/name_m], because it has been used continuously and has been quite popular. It’s not like you are going with something more unusual like [name_f]Perpetua[/name_f] or [name_f]Placidia[/name_f]. But I think [name_f]Juliana[/name_f] avoids the problem totally – it doesn’t sound as [name_m]Roman[/name_m] as [name_f]Julia[/name_f] to me, and its ending is more distinct from Claudia’s. It’s also a beautiful name that fits well with all of your children’s names in different subtle ways – shared sounds, syllable counts, etc. I love it!

[name_f]Mary[/name_f] is also on our short list - but with [name_m]Jesse[/name_m] + [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], is it too Hebrew/Biblical? I think if I liked all names equally, I’d like to choose a name from an origin different than any of the current kiddos, but that’s probably just a name enthusiast indulgence, not a real requirement×D

I have seen names like [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] referred to as something like “super-classics” and definitely “deep classics” on Nameberry. So while they do have the Biblical association, they also have an association with royalty, [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_m]Austen[/name_m] characters, maybe with people in your family tree – so many associations that they cancel each other out. So I think you could use [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], and [name_m]Jesse[/name_m] without most people making any assumptions about why you chose those names.
On the other hand, you could use [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and call her [name_f]Mary[/name_f], and then you have a different origin and… maybe the best of both worlds?

I don’t think [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] and [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] are similar besides the rhythm and syllables which many names share besides. [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] is further removed because it doesn’t share the ‘d’ and the vowels are more distinct. I would personally consider both in your situation, but if these things bother you and make you hesitant then they’re probably not the one sadly.
I haven’t seen these mentioned, and I think most of these add a bit of surprise and mix up the vibes of your set…
