Last name is Buffalo

Well, we are two weeks away from our due date and are still struggling to find a name for baby. We are not sure if we are having a boy or girl but there are the names we are kicking around. Any other suggestions would be greatly welcomed, especially for boys since that list is pretty small.

Girls:
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Sienna[/name]
[name]Sienna[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name]
[name]Cedar[/name] [name]Lauren[/name]
[name]Cedar[/name] [name]Logan[/name]
[name]Vienna[/name] [name]Lexie[/name]
[name]Cypress[/name] [name]Eden[/name]

Boys:
[name]Jett[/name] [name]Hudson[/name]
[name]Carter[/name] [name]Liam[/name]
[name]Jacob[/name] [name]Jett[/name]
I also like [name]Logan[/name], [name]Jonah[/name] and [name]Aiden[/name].

I know that these names, especially for the girls is not common. But it is also tricky to find a name that ‘goes’ well with Buffalo. We’d love to hear your thoughts and any new suggestions! Thanks!!

I like [name]Cedar[/name] for girl and [name]Jonah[/name] for boy. you right it tricky with your last name.

[name]Ezra[/name] Buffalo
[name]Phineas[/name] Buffalo
[name]Saul[/name] Buffalo

[name]Pippa[/name] Buffalo
[name]Tyra[/name] Buffalo
[name]Ozara[/name] Buffalo

Hmmh, very tricky with your last name, since Buffalo immediately conjures up an image (not a bad thing”very cool actually!). That said, I might stay away from “word” names that also conjure up imagery. When I see “[name]Scarlett[/name] Buffalo” I immediately think of a dark red Buffalo! Of your girl names, I like [name]Scarlett[/name] and [name]Cedar[/name] the best, though I wouldn’t use them for the reason mentioned above. Of course, if this doesn’t bother you then go for it! As always, the most important thing is for you to love the name

Of your boy names, I think [name]Carter[/name] and [name]Jonah[/name] work the best with your last name. While I like the classic style of [name]Jacob[/name], since your last name begins with “B” the two names run together.

If it were me, I would choose simple first names since your last name is so unique.

[name]Charlotte[/name] Buffalo (same feel as [name]Scarlett[/name], but without the mental imagery)
[name]Celia[/name] Buffalo (instead of [name]Cedar[/name]?)
[name]Lucy[/name] Buffalo
[name]Anna[/name] Buffalo (nn [name]Annie[/name]?[name]Annie[/name] Buffalo is pretty cute!)
[name]Margaret[/name] Buffalo (nn [name]Maggie[/name]? Same feel as [name]Annie[/name])
[name]Grace[/name] Buffalo
[name]Susannah[/name] Buffalo

[name]Daniel[/name] Buffalo
[name]Edward[/name] Buffalo
[name]Nathanial[/name] Buffalo (love this!)
[name]Henry[/name] Buffalo
[name]Jude[/name] Buffalo
[name]Luke[/name] Buffalo
[name]Isaac[/name] Buffalo
[name]Thomas[/name] Buffalo
[name]William[/name] Buffalo

When naming a little girl, it is important to downplay your last name in your case. You can do this by choosing a name that is two, three, or four syllables and by putting at least two consonants from Buffalo into her first name. Also stay away from Western or Word names. For example:

[name]Elizabeth[/name] Buffalo nn [name]Libby[/name] Buffalo. [name]Libby[/name] really helps Buffalo to fade back!
[name]Freya[/name] Buffalo - only has one of the consonants, but it works really well.
[name]Hollis[/name] Buffalo - just has the “l” sound, but it is working.
[name]Fiona[/name] Buffalo - has the “f” and long “o” sounds.
[name]Georgia[/name] Buffalo - Now this doesn’t follow my rule, but it is working because the two soft “g” sounds are so strong that they help to dominate Buffalo. We’ve got to tame that beast!

Buffalo is tricky, but together we’ll all think of good ideas.

Okay, the names below are very pretty, but for me they don’t calm your last name down:
Girls:
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Sienna[/name]
[name]Sienna[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name]
[name]Cedar[/name] [name]Lauren[/name]
[name]Cedar[/name] [name]Logan[/name]
[name]Vienna[/name] [name]Lexie[/name]
[name]Cypress[/name] [name]Eden[/name]

These names below are nice , but why not celebrate the name Buffalo? Three of the names below are great with Buffalo - [name]Hudson[/name], [name]Liam[/name] and [name]Logan[/name].
Boys:
[name]Jett[/name] [name]Hudson[/name]
[name]Carter[/name] [name]Liam[/name]
[name]Jacob[/name] [name]Jett[/name]
I also like [name]Logan[/name], [name]Jonah[/name] and [name]Aiden[/name]. Okay with [name]Jonah[/name], I think of a great fish and a buffalo. I don’t like that image.

Now, for a boy Buffalo is a cool last name! Why not play it up and go cowboy?
[name]Wyatt[/name] Buffalo - this is happening!
[name]Zane[/name] Buffalo
[name]Liam[/name] Buffalo, this is Irish, but it does sound rough and tumble with Buffalo.
I like [name]Logan[/name] Buffalo! L and long O sounds together. Brilliant!
[name]Hudson[/name] Buffalo is so cute, too! Short U sounds match nicely.
[name]Owen[/name] Buffalo - Two long O sounds match. So handsome! Flows nicely.

Or you could pick up the “f” sound with:
[name]Frank[/name] Buffalo - sounds great! Very simple but strong.

ooo!
My vote is for [name]Fiona[/name] or [name]Hudson[/name]…very cute with Buffalo!

oops! I replied on your other thread of the same title!

[name]Hi[/name] there, and welcome to Nameberry! With Buffalo as a last name, I’d just stay away from using color and place names (and nouns/adjectives in general). If, however, you’re aiming for a Native American feel, I think nouns would definitely be appropriate.

[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Sienna[/name]: While [name]Scarlett[/name] is lovely, I wouldn’t pair two colors together in one name. Likewise, [name]Scarlett[/name] Buffalo sounds like someone is talking about a red buffalo.

[name]Sienna[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name]: See above.

[name]Cedar[/name] [name]Lauren[/name]: I wouldn’t use a noun with Buffalo, and [name]Lauren[/name] is dated.

[name]Cedar[/name] [name]Logan[/name]: See above…

[name]Vienna[/name] [name]Lexie[/name]: I definitely wouldn’t use [name]Vienna[/name], a place name, with Buffalo, as it sounds like she’s two cities.

[name]Cypress[/name] [name]Eden[/name]: See above.

Boys:
[name]Jett[/name] [name]Hudson[/name]: You’ve got the noun and place name issue here, too.
[name]Carter[/name] [name]Liam[/name]: I suppose [name]Carter[/name] could work with Buffalo!
[name]Jacob[/name] [name]Jett[/name]: [name]Jacob[/name] would be my pick with Buffalo.

[name]Logan[/name]: [name]Logan[/name] Buffalo could work…

[name]Jonah[/name]: I vote for either [name]Jonah[/name] or [name]Jacob[/name] Buffalo…

[name]Aiden[/name]: [name]Aidan[/name] is quite overused, but I think it’s a lovely name.

Of your boys’ choices, I like [name]Jacob[/name] and [name]Jonah[/name] Buffalo, and of the trendy name, I think [name]Logan[/name] Buffalo really works!
