My NEW married name is “[name]Winter[/name],” which, I must say, is quite a lovely name (MUCH better than my maiden!). But keep in mind, this great new name is a “word” name. - I love the last name [name]Winter[/name].
As I search and search for girls name I find myself naturally drawn to “word” names, my favorites being:
[name]Iris[/name] [name]Winter[/name] - like it okay
[name]Rose[/name] [name]Winter[/name] - like it.
[name]Rosemary[/name] [name]Winter[/name] - like it.
[name]Constance[/name] [name]Winter[/name] - it sounds like [name]Winter[/name] will never end.
[name]Hazel[/name] [name]Winter[/name] - I don’t like this, not sure why.
There are other “non-word” names that I am also quite fond of, which, when said with my last name sound like a part of sentence:
[name]Iona[/name] [name]Winter[/name] (really?) - Yeah, sounds like I own a winter.
[name]Mary[/name] [name]Winter[/name] ([name]Merry[/name] [name]Christmas[/name]!) - I have to think about this. In a way, I like it. There’s something sweet about it. Old fashioned.
[name]Ida[/name] [name]Winter[/name] (Whose-a winter?) - [name]Don[/name]'t like it.
My question is: should I avoid wordy-names? or names that sound sentencey with my last name? - Depends on the name. I would take it name by name.
At this moment my favorite names from those above are [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Iris[/name]. They also seem to be acceptable to my family, who balk at the sound of my top 3 names —[name]Imogen[/name], [name]Jemima[/name], and [name]Isidora[/name] (which sound GREAT with my last name! …sigh!..)
Only your husband or partner should be allowed to help you name your baby.
[name]Rose[/name] [name]Winter[/name] - yes, I’m starting to love it.
[name]Iris[/name] [name]Winter[/name] - no, I don’t like “ris” and “[name]Win[/name]” so close together.
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Winter[/name]
[name]Jemima[/name] [name]Winter[/name] (nn [name]Jemma[/name]?) I love [name]Jemima[/name] [name]Winter[/name], but [name]Jemma[/name] [name]Winter[/name] takes all the joy out of your last name for me.
[name]Isidora[/name] [name]Winter[/name] - I love [name]Isadora[/name] more than [name]Isidora[/name], because [name]Isadora[/name] just looks more graceful. [name]Isadora[/name] [name]Winter[/name] is very pretty.
My grandmother-in-law’s maiden name was [name]Winters[/name]. Her name was [name]Laura[/name] [name]Winters[/name]. If [name]Winter[/name] was my last name, I would give my daughter a warm and cozy name to go with it like:
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Winter[/name]
[name]Cameron[/name] [name]Winter[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name] [name]Winter[/name] nn [name]Calla[/name] [name]Winter[/name]
[name]Catherine[/name] nn [name]Cate[/name] [name]Winter[/name]
[name]Chloe[/name] [name]Winter[/name] - popular, but so pretty
[name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Winter[/name]
[name]Jacqueline[/name] [name]Winter[/name]
[name]Lara[/name] [name]Winter[/name] - makes me think of “Dr. [name]Zhivago[/name]”
[name]Laura[/name] [name]Winter[/name]
[name]Leona[/name] [name]Winter[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Winter[/name]
[name]Naomi[/name] [name]Winter[/name] - I don’t usually suggest [name]Naomi[/name], but I like it with [name]Winter[/name]. also [name]Noemi[/name]
[name]Olivia[/name] [name]Winter[/name] - [name]Olivia[/name] is so popular, but I love it with [name]Winter[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] [name]Winter[/name] - cheerful, nn [name]Nell[/name] [name]Winter[/name] - love it!
[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Winter[/name] - [name]Ruby[/name] is so warm and happy with [name]Winter[/name]! And it is a word name.
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Winter[/name] - sounds like a star at night.
[name]Vivian[/name] [name]Winter[/name] nn [name]Vivi[/name] [name]Winter[/name], I like it.
My faves are [name]Laura[/name] [name]Winter[/name], [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Winter[/name], [name]Penelope[/name] nn [name]Nell[/name] [name]Winter[/name], and [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Winter[/name]. If I loved [name]Naomi[/name], it would be one of my faves, too.
