What’s your thoughts? I was thinking about using my maiden name for the first name of our baby boy. It is [name_m]Jones[/name_m]. I have no male cousins or brothers to carry on our line. So what do you think?
Thanks!

love it! When surnames are used as first names, it’s best that they’re family names.
I like it. [name_m]Jones[/name_m] isn’t unheard of as a first name so I definately think you should go for it!
I really like it! Would be very nice.
I love it! I wish my maiden name worked as a first name!
I love surnames as FNs. I can’t really wrap my mind around a little boy named [name_m]Jones[/name_m], but I think it is a cool idea, and I love the significance! I wish my maiden name was usable as a first–it just isn’t. Think along the line of [name_m]Roberts[/name_m]. [name_m]Jones[/name_m] would be pretty cool, although I wonder if it would be mistaken for [name_m]Jonas[/name_m]?
[name_f]Love[/name_f] it! I know a man who is probably around 80 named [name_m]Jones[/name_m]. I have always thought it was such a great name since meeting him!
[name_f]Love[/name_f] it. Using surnames/maiden names as first names is done all the time where I live (people are really into their lineage-- sometimes for sentimental reasons, sometimes because it’s a status thing). I especially love keeping the name alive since there are no male relatives to pass it on. I say go for it. He can always use his middle if he doesn’t like it.
Ranking of my feelings on surnames as first names (1=best):
My feelings change quite a bit through those three, 1 I love(!), 3 I really don’t care for… [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t know why but maybe because the girl may be taking a fairly random last name later on through marriage, and it may clash with two obvious surnames. I know clashing married names can happen with normal first names, but the idea of two typically “last” names not fitting together is worse to me.
I don’t mind a random surname on a boy, possibly because I find boys names harder to fall for, and have allowed a few occupational surnames into my boys list myself
I really like [name_m]Jones[/name_m] as a first name!
I absolutely love it! I would totally do it if my maiden name was even remotely useable as a first.
My immediate thought spoken aloud was ‘Yeah go for it!’
I think [name_m]Jones[/name_m] is a really great twist on the usual surname choices like [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] and [name_u]Carter[/name_u]. [name_m]Jones[/name_m] sounds very poetic and wholesome I like [name_m]Jones[/name_m] as a first name, I also like the whole bluesy vibe of [name_m]Jones[/name_m]. But I would team [name_m]Jones[/name_m] with a slightly mythical classic name just continue the natural flow of [name_m]Jones[/name_m] as a first name.

Hmmmm, isn’t [name_m]Jones[/name_m] a vulgar term? I know it as a last name, but I think it might be a mistake. I could be wrong though.
