Laure

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]

I really like the suggestion of [name_f]Laure[/name_f] in another thread of mine. I believe it is pronounce [name_f]Lore[/name_f] like in folk lore. I know it is a [name_m]French[/name_m] name. My only concern is that I live in the UK. I am not sure if [name_f]Laure[/name_f] is to out there to use in the UK. I have no [name_m]French[/name_m] ancestry if that makes any difference.

So my questions are… [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like the name [name_f]Laure[/name_f]? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it’s usable in the UK? Would it get mispronounced?

Thanks.

I like it. The recent book All the [name_m]Light[/name_m] We Cannot See had a main character named [name_f]Marie[/name_f]-[name_f]Laure[/name_f] so I think it’s usable.

I think [name_f]Laure[/name_f] is beautiful! Personally, I like the [name_m]French[/name_m] pronunciation best (it sounds more like Lawr), but it’s a lovely name regardless, and I don’t think it’s too out there.

If it sounds like [name_f]Lore[/name_f], you should spell it [name_f]Lore[/name_f]. [name_f]Laure[/name_f] personally just looks like you’re trying to hard, forgot the n on [name_f]Lauren[/name_f], or spelled [name_u]Laurie[/name_u] incorrectly.

I think it’s an attractive name, but not sure how well it would work outside a [name_m]French[/name_m] speaking country. The post just before this demonstrates my concern: a lovely [name_m]French[/name_m] name is seen as making something up and trying too hard.

I think that the [name_f]Lore[/name_f] spelling would be better for you. I think it’s a charming and unique name and I don’t see a problem with you using it despite not being [name_m]French[/name_m]. [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], for example, is Greek and it’s extremely popular among American parents.
I dont think it will be misspronounced in the UK, though in some European countries it could be pronounced as lo-rah

I really like it! It’ll have some pronunciation issue, but not big enough of a problem to be a deal breaker, imo. It’s very lovely.

I know some [name_m]French[/name_m] women with this name, but it always seems to be hyphenated, e.g [name_f]Anne[/name_f]-[name_f]Laure[/name_f]. I think it is a slightly odd choice for someone with no [name_m]French[/name_m] heritage though, just because it sounds super [name_m]French[/name_m] to me.

I think [name_f]Laure[/name_f] is beautiful! I think you might have some pronounciation issues, but maybe not too many because it’s similar to [name_f]Lauren[/name_f]/[name_f]Laura[/name_f].

Although [name_f]Lore[/name_f] is another great option if you don’t want to deal with any problems!

I like it and think it would work well. Its unusual but familiar thanks to [name_f]Laura[/name_f], [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] and [name_u]Laurie[/name_u]. [name_f]Lore[/name_f] is nice too, but I like [name_f]Laure[/name_f] better. It would also make a lovely middle name that fits in with all the little Graces, Lanes and Roses.

It will definitely get mispronounced. I’d spell it [name_f]Lore[/name_f]. It’s a nice name.

It’s different…I myself am a [name_f]Laura[/name_f], so it looks a little odd to me

I like it, but I think it would be misread for [name_f]Laura[/name_f] a lot, so I would use [name_f]Lore[/name_f] (which I love).
