Layla or Laila?

Hello fellow namelovers!

(This is actually for a character I’m creating, not an actual person.)
I’ve been loving the name Layla/Laila for awhile, especially for this character, but I’ve been wondering how to spell her name. Her middle names are [name_f]Mira[/name_f] and [name_f]Selene[/name_f]. The name Layla/Laila [name_f]Mira[/name_f] [name_f]Selene[/name_f] has been one of my faves for bit. Should I spell the name [name_f]Layla[/name_f] or [name_f]Laila[/name_f] to go with my middle names?

Also, any suggestions for totally new first or middle names are welcome. I’m open to hearing new ideas!

P.S. I also need names (fn + mn) for her younger sister. Suggestions for that are always welcome too.

Depends how you want to pronounce it. I’d assume [name_f]Layla[/name_f] to be LAY-la, and [name_f]Laila[/name_f] to be LIE-la.

I’ve always preferred [name_f]Layla[/name_f]! It’s the most intuitive to me, definitely. [name_f]Layla[/name_f] is always LAY-luh, but it’s think [name_f]Laila[/name_f] could be LY-luh.

For her sister…
[name_u]Elisa[/name_u], [name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Mara[/name_f]
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
[name_u]Louise[/name_u]
[name_f]Myra[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]
[name_f]Thomasina[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]

[name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_f]Mira[/name_f] [name_f]Selene[/name_f], if you want it pronounced Lay-luh!!

With [name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_f]Mira[/name_f] [name_f]Selene[/name_f], I’d suggest the names:

[name_u]Willow[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_u]Jade[/name_u] [name_f]Liora[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Nadia[/name_f] [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_u]Celeste[/name_u] [name_f]Aleah[/name_f]
[name_f]Amber[/name_f] [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] [name_u]Esme[/name_u]

How do you guys feel about sister names

[name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_f]Mira[/name_f] [name_f]Selene[/name_f] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Aleyah[/name_f] [name_u]Celeste[/name_u]?

The first names are too close for sisters I think, but they stylistically they work real well.

I see your point.

At least it’s better than [name_f]Layla[/name_f] and Lila/Lily lol

I like [name_f]Laila[/name_f] just because I have something about Ys in the middle of a name. I think my favourite sisters for [name_f]Layla[/name_f] (or Laila?) would be…

[name_f]Layla[/name_f] and [name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Layla[/name_f] and [name_f]Mila[/name_f]
[name_f]Layla[/name_f] and [name_u]Sunny[/name_u]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps :sunny:
