For me it depends which pronunciation you want.
I pr
[name_f]Leila[/name_f], lee-luh.
[name_f]Layla[/name_f], lay-luh.
[name_f]Layla[/name_f] is by far the most popular, ranked #27 in the USA. [name_f]Leila[/name_f] ranks #238.
Your best bet is [name_f]Layla[/name_f] imo, since I have heard multiple pronunciations for [name_f]Leila[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Leila[/name_f] is better. [name_f]Layla[/name_f] is still super nice, though!
I know a [name_f]Lelia[/name_f], and she’s only had a few problems with mispronunciation that is fixed with a simple correction. Doesn’t handicap her in any way. (To clarify, her name is pronounced lay-luh)
Any more opinions? Thanks.
I’ve always preferred the look of [name_f]Leila[/name_f]. To me it looks more authentically Middle Eastern. I think they’re both pretty though. I guess if you live in an English speaking country I would recommend [name_f]Layla[/name_f] because people might mispronounced [name_f]Leila[/name_f] as [name_f]Leela[/name_f].
I prefer [name_f]Layla[/name_f] as I think it’s the most intuitive – I’d pronounce [name_f]Leila[/name_f] as lee-luh. I also think [name_f]Layla[/name_f] looks prettier. I like [name_f]Laila[/name_f] too.
I prefer [name_f]Layla[/name_f] because of the song.
I always used to pronounce these both the same until I came across a [name_f]Leila[/name_f] who pronounced it [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-luh, and since then I can’t see it any other way. So for that reason, I’d go for [name_f]Layla[/name_f] if you want that pronunciation (or have you considered [name_f]Leyla[/name_f] or [name_f]Laila[/name_f]?)
In general I prefer traditional/standard spellings for names, so I say [name_f]Leila[/name_f].
My niece is [name_f]Leyla[/name_f]!
Definitely prefer [name_f]Leila[/name_f] - it looks much more substantial. [name_f]Layla[/name_f] looks kinda trendy and new, like a relative of [name_f]Kayla[/name_f].
I prefer the [name_f]Leila[/name_f] spelling, however if being straightforward to pronounce is important to you I think the [name_f]Layla[/name_f] spelling would be better ( I voted for [name_f]Layla[/name_f] as it seems to meet your criteria better.)
