Lazarus?

Hey, berries!

[name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] has been grabbing my attention for a while. I absolutely love it. The meaning and the stories behind it lend the name power. However, is the world ready for a [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m]? There are a ton of more “mainstream” nicknames like [name_m]Lars[/name_m], [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m], etc., but I don’t want to burden a future son with a name that might be too heavy. I like that it’s unique like a lot of names on my UC, though it’s definitely different from my normal naming style for boys.
Is it too heavy, or could a little [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] play with his friends on the playground?

Thank you!

I’ve been liking it for awhile, and I feel like with a good nickname, I think it could work. I think it has much more gravitas and meaning than a lot of other “weird” names being used today, so why not? [name_m]Lazar[/name_m] or Laz are cool nicknames, in addition to [name_m]Lars[/name_m] as you suggested.

I love this name because of the poem “[name_f]Lady[/name_f] [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m].” I have [name_m]Lazaro[/name_m] on my list.

It’s definitely a bit heavy, but the right kid could pull it off! And [name_m]Lars[/name_m] is pretty wearable.

The Biblical association might be a bit heavy, but I think it’s cool name and I’ve always liked it! I would love to meet a young [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m].

I think with the growing popularity of names like [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m] and [name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m], [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] would be fine.

I’m glad you think so

I love [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m]! Admittedly, I’m probably not the one to ask whether names are too heavy, but I think it’s stunning, and I can imagine a little [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] playing with his friends!

These days [name_m]Ole[/name_m] Tupperware [name_m]Jimmy[/name_m] and [name_f]Moxie[/name_f] Judo Frenemy could be playing together on the playground, so I wouldn’t worry about the real name of [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m].

At first I thought, oh, that’s too much name, but reconsidering I don’t think so. I’m swayed because it is so utterly gorgeous in print and in sound.

Lazarus, love the z sound and how the name ends luxuriously.

And [name_m]Lars[/name_m], [name_m]Lazlo[/name_m], [name_m]Lalo[/name_m], Lazarre are all seriously cool nns.

Good luck!

I like it! Reminds me of [name_m]Azriel[/name_m] which I also like.

I like the name; I think it has really cool sounds. However, I tend to shy away from names that are connected strongly with one person or idea, good or bad. This is the same reason I wouldn’t consider [name_m]Adonis[/name_m] or [name_f]Athena[/name_f] or [name_m]Ichabod[/name_m] or [name_m]Hercules[/name_m]; not because they’re bad names or people, necessarily, but because I would want to use a name that feels like a symbol. Basically, if there is a person or idea that I think of immediately or can find a passage describing someone similarly to “a modern day [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m]” or something of that nature, it puts me off a little bit.

This is not to say you shouldn’t use it! It’s usable and it’s cool! The nicknames are also great.

TLDR: It’s cool! It’s not for me, but it’s absolutely usable.

I like it a lot! It’s unexpected but not too out-there imo.

It’s great, reminds me of [name_m]David[/name_m] [name_u]Bowie[/name_u] which is never a bad thing
