Which do you prefer and why? What mental image does each one give you?
I prefer [name_f]Leah[/name_f] and [name_f]Lia[/name_f]. I can’t choose because [name_f]Leah[/name_f] is biblical and looks so elegant and pretty while [name_f]Lia[/name_f] is a bit more spunky.
Side note: I pronounce [name_f]Leah[/name_f], [name_f]Lea[/name_f], and [name_f]Lia[/name_f] as “lee-ah” while Léa ([name_m]French[/name_m] version) and [name_f]Leia[/name_f] as “lay-ah”
I prefer [name_f]Leah[/name_f] as a stand alone name and [name_f]Lia[/name_f] as a nickname for names such as [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Natalia[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], etc. Not a fan of [name_f]Lea[/name_f] and [name_f]Leia[/name_f] just isn’t my style.
I completely agree with this. [name_f]Leah[/name_f] is by far my favorite.
I like [name_f]Leia[/name_f] and [name_f]Leah[/name_f] best. And I agree that [name_f]Lia[/name_f] feels like more of a nicknamey spelling.
[name_f]Leah[/name_f] is my favorite by far. I have a gorgeous, redheaded cousin by that name so I’m biased.
My favourite of these is [name_f]Leia[/name_f] (ley-a), then [name_f]Lea[/name_f] (leh-ah / [name_m]Lay[/name_m]-a / [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-a) then [name_f]Lia[/name_f] ([name_u]Lee[/name_u]-a) and my least favourite is [name_f]Leah[/name_f] ([name_u]Lee[/name_u]-a).
[name_f]Leia[/name_f], I like the sound of and how it stays the same in English and [name_m]German[/name_m]. [name_f]Lea[/name_f] is just so overused here. [name_f]Lia[/name_f] I just don’t care for much (probably because of a personal association) but I like that the pronunciation stays the same in many languages. With [name_f]Leah[/name_f], the -h bothers me, look-wise.
